For starters I think JK's all pink glamour baseball cap he sometimes wears is magnificent. A hat that give zero fahucks. Trump's MAGA red cap is horrible. Not only is it angry and ugly, it's lying. For myself, I sometimes wear a flat cap in the winter, as I fool myself into believing it makes me look stylish. I do see more young men in flat caps, perhaps going for the peaky blinders look. Watching old eps of the Avengers and Steed's bowlers are what hats should be. But wear a bowler now and you'd be laughed at and sectioned. I did once try a baseball cap but I looked dreadful in it. Like some escaped lunatic with a giant forehead. Maybe I got the wrong style. lol.
I rarely wear hats. Flat caps reminds me Andy Capp and old men in the pub. Also flat caps are popular in the traveller community. Baseball caps can be good but it depends style, colour, size of the peak. I do keep one for the garden but if I am out in a cap it has to be one with a band logo on or branded. The art of hats has been lost.
I do have fedora but I have nothing that goes with it casually and don't say a red and black striped jersey.
When I am suited and booted it's always a suit and I do sometimes wear pink ties and waistcoats, it takes confidence to wear pink but women do like men in pink if they can carry it well. When I see men going on dates with their loved ones it mind blowing how casual they look.
I even dress smart even for rock gigs, wearing T shirt and jeans so generic and plain. I did mistake once I wore a flashy type blazer with my partner and her sister walking on both sides of me, somebody said I must be a pimp.
Fear not Pussy Cat..I too wear flat caps and I'm not even going bald.
As for those MAGA caps, during the recent Oz election an Opposition Minister bizarrely wore one during the election campaign seemingly oblivious to the fact Trumpism was obviously on the nose with electors due to the tariff dramas.
And yes, JK's caps are rather magnificent and he's far braver than me. I wear very plain caps in Summer as the sun is just blinding.
GM--Hahaha--no. I never imagined you as a Freddy Krueger type. Fedora's can look very stylish, but yes the gear with it is crucial to the look. Indeed I admire any man who wears pink. I don't, but I'm a scaredy cat. I maybe should give pink a try.
HEDDA-- I did worry about the flat cap as I made a vow never to dress like an old man as I gradually get older. I tend not to wear brown or beige...shorts T shirts and trainers in the summer suit me fine, but you can't wear a flat cap with those. lol. Thankfully not bald either, but I am receding. I can imagine you being a very dapper chap.
Sadly, I am going bald (horsehoe) but I embrace it. I shave my head, I do need a hat to protect my scalp from the sun and cold weather. Hair transplants are terrible and if it's goes wrong you are badly scared or patchy, I have seen it person. I am just shy of being 60.
The only issue with clothes for men there is nothing stylish or trendy for my age bracket for everyday wear. I do have a range of ties. blazers and waistcoats but I like colour apart yellow. orange and most shades of green.
Second hand clothes for men are non existent in the high street unless you want shitty fast fashion.

In my heyday I loved wearing fine threads, suits etc and fancy waistcoats.
Now I'm reduced to track suits mainly because I have no need to dress up as the local supermarket is about the most exciting visit I make.
I am reminded of the great German fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld who proclaimed that wearing track suits was a sign of giving up.
But then I read as he got pretty old he wore (designer) track suits to meetings where he often nodded off in mid sentence.
# Flat caps are wonderful for winter and it does get very bitter here as it is today with wretched winds from the Antarctic. So happy I invested in a cashmere overcoat still going strong after 20 years.
I admit I don't do tracksuits nor pyjamas. Never did get pyjamas. Only as a kid. But from 14 on.. underpants only. At bedtime I hasten to add. Nakedness in bed is the only way. I do have a dressing gown for breakfast. Don't understand these people who go shopping in their PJs. What's that all about?
