TOPIC: STARMER - one year
#260463
STARMER - one year 5 Days, 9 Hours ago
I can't stand the man (auditioned him years ago to represent me as a QC - decided instead to take on Ed Fitzgerald QC) but he is a lawyer and most lawyers are dreadful; they think in a different, wrong way. Starmer simply wants public support (or votes) and his decisions reflect that - often wrong, based on media assumptions. But most of all I'm astonished that since, as DPP, he told police to inform accusers "you will be believed even if you are lying", several haven't come forward accusing him of sex offences against them, knowing there are hundreds of thousands to be made from such claims.

It should however be remembered that his government inherited 'the worst set of circumstances since the second world war'.

This piece - published about a year ago - is a reminder of the virtually impossible difficulties faced. Before Trump returned!

Truss was kicked out and Starmer remains.

I do wonder if Starmer is using blackmail, and someone is blackmailing Starmer. He is the worst PM since Blair. I never thought that was possible.

I agree JK, most lawyers are dreadful, most have no sense of humour or charisma, unless they have snorted some cocaine.

chortling Tory at Spectator garden party laughing that a new Corbyn party would take 20% of Labour's vote (forgetting Corbyn got more votes than Blair ever did)

They may. And Reform may take 20% of the Tory vote.
Both new parties may well be king makers.

We are led by donkeys.

Will Starmer last as long as a year?

Remember..most voting Brits rejected him. He's always been on the nose.

Blair was one of the very few PM's to reduce our National Debt - by running surpluses. And the last one!!

Was Starmer responsible for the disastrous state of the economy - that he inherited?

Rumours abound that Corbyn is starting his own brand new party. I do hope so and I believe he will give Starmer and Farage a run for their money. We need a Revolution in this country in which the wealthy will stay wealthy, and the poor will be richer. It can be done. Of course. Abandon Israel. Abandon the USA. Shut down all the schools. Children will learn more at home. £2000 a month Universal Basic Income, so people can choose what they want to do with their lives. Cancel all wprld debt. Kick the dead wood out.

The only good thing Starmer has said over the year is that the UK is becoming an Island of Strangers, and now he's rowing back on that. He'd rather satisfy some of his lefty backbenchers than the British electorate

I have to say compared to what has come since (if we can leave aside the foreign interventions) the Blair era looks now like a halcyon time, largely featuring adults who could string sentences together; and while heavily invested in the news cycle, not utterly lost to it...

I am sure the relatives of those who died in the illegal wars care about your comic stats, Mr Stalker.

I know Robbie, it's the only thing he has gotten right, then he backtracked.

I am sure Sultana and Cabbage Party will have to agree on that one. I hate to say it, but Deform are gaining more traction.

But what are they learning at school? It's still designed to keep kids stupid and poor.

They are learning to interact with other children DSC.

They are learning through sharing resources and time and collaborating with other children, that they are not the centre of the Universe. They are learning to follow structure, routine and authority, which is central, psychologically, to children's sense of security and feeling valued. They are learning the importance of reciprocal and applied social obligations through play. They are learning, if in unloving or abusive homes, that there are safe spaces in the world and not to despair. They are learning that differences in ethnic or social groupings has no bearing on the "others" humanity or capacity to love.

They are also learning less important matters such as English, maths, physics, history etc...

I'm not sure what you mean by saying school is "designed" to keep kids "stupid"? Or "poor". By stupid do you mean ignorant of something or slow to learn? By poor, poor in spirit, or future income? What does this design look like?

PS I'm not a teacher!

Because I went to school in between time spent on my admittedly beloved C64 and reading ZZAP 64! magazine.

I bet you wrote codes in the back of your exercise books ready to be programmed for your C64 when you got in.

One kid was giving a C64 because he wanted to play Minder, it was the only game he owned on the system.
