RIP Norman Tebbit 94 1 Day, 3 Hours ago
Admired him whilst disagreeing with almost all his policies and positions.

The way he looked after his wife was fantastic.

Didn't like him,but the Brighton bombing was horrific. He and his wife were lucky to survive. I was only 20 and I remember watching Breakfast news and seeing him covered in rubble still in his pyjamas. I agree. Brilliant with his wife. A very loyal and devoted man. Even to Thatcher. Stood by her even when the knives were out.RIP.

Yes he seemed an admirable man and a politician with integrity of beliefs.

Just gone through this old article. www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5222073...-IRA-tried-kill.html

I did love the old British stiff upper lip attitude, which now no longer exists.

When Norman Tebbit was finally freed from the rubble a paramedic routinely asked him if he had any allergies. ‘Yes,’ Tebbit replied. ‘To bombs!’

Sorry couldn't stand him.

On your bike !
Utter claptrap.

another vacuous idiotic solution to Britain's unemployment problem as if people could just give up their homes and travel elsewhere, find a new home and look for a job.

Another disastrous Thatcherite idiocy up there with her ludicrous "other people's money" gormless statement.

What a legacy that mob have left..everything dreadful today can be laid at their feet including the sh*t being poured into Britain's rivers.

Yes the Brighton bombing was just appalling.

Not everything is about politics Hedda!

My nod to him anyway was an acknowledgment that (whatever one's views of them) he had principles and did not sway in the media wind. And he seemed to be a decent, loyal and honorable man in his private life...virtues and words so hopelessly old fashioned now...

yes there is merit in that and as I've said before, although I disagreed with every Thatcher policy..she didn't lie. She said exactly what she was going to do and did it for good or bad.

And she obviously inspired loyalty within her party.

Norman Tebbit: Outspoken hero of the Conservative political right

He believed that homosexuals should not have senior cabinet posts...
Reading that made me go looking for further information and I found this article from 2013. It gave me a few laughs.

Norman Tebbit interview: 'No, I'm not a homophobe'

"These must be troubling times for Norman Tebbit. He's clearly not a fan of gay marriage; or of David Cameron. In fact, almost the only person to get a good word from him is Jimmy Savile"

The bit about gay marriage and Jimmy Savile being odd and possibly a homosexual made me wonder if Norman Tebbit could have substituted either of the participants in this conversation:

What happened to the seniors with their "No fucks given" trait?
