Dear Chris Tarrant... 17 Years, 5 Months ago
www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/...;amp;in_page_id=1770

and of course his comment "I'm not Jonathan King or Gary Glitter" is as true as "I'm not Chris Tarrant" but there are similarities.

Both of us have become minor celebrities through achieving very little in the media and both of us have made loads of money through fame, thus deserving scrutiny of our private lives and, surely, knowing full well much of it will be inaccurate (for example, I was not wrongly convicted of any paedophile activity - a child is legally "a person under 14").

But I have at least run record labels, written hits, sung hits, produced hits, written weekly columns, produced hit TV shows, published novels and done a great deal more than just hosting radio and TV shows.

And I have always behaved very well with my friends - let alone towards any wife I didn't have.

The claws are out! Tarrant is a two bit gameshow host, and not even a good gameshow host compared to the old greats such as Brucie and dear old Bob Monkhouse. Tarrant also believes that throwing custard over people on a Saturday morning was innovative...Laurel and Hardy were doing just that in the 1920's.

I personally have nothing against Chris Tarrant and I think that he is a good host of Millionaire. His Tarrant on TV programme is crap, as is his new programme on ITV.

However, unless I am missing something, what on earth has JK or Glitter got to do with his predicament. Not quite sure why you were mentioned as a example JK.

If you are going to get married, stay faithful Chris.

Wonder if he's been too busy to read about the European court appeal?
Shame really,I've met Chris a number of times over the years, and that remark is not something I would expect him to say.

Did you meet him when he was trying to deflect media attention on his own faults?

Well JK, I think you and Chris have both made too much money (but that's because I earn peanuts by comparison). Of course, don't see this as an attack on you, just someone who wishes he had the transactions coming into his bank like the sun report on yours!

Anyway, Chris should know by now that any person with any fame level will create "news" with their private life. If he says otherwise, then he is only fooling himself. He was more than happy to string out Major Ingram

I first met chris back in the later 1970s.
I was connected to a dance group that performed on tiswas.
Chris at the time lived close to me,and while we never attempted friendship,he was always courteous, and remembered my name when we met by chance.
The man was not the typical celebrity, and always had a down to earth approach, easy to get on with.
I've not seen him for a number of years, and do generally feel sorry for his broken relationship. He loved his wife very much, but of course the physical and mental are easily detatched in men when the hormones let loose.
Deflecting media attention, obviously, but don't judge a man on a single action made under stress..there but for the grace of god...

From what I understand, Tarrant's affair was not a one night stand, therefore it was not simply one action under stress (much like the Major/Currie affair).

While I am not passing any judgment on Tarrant, I do agree with Rupert and JK. The man is simply trying to deflect his own situation by turning the "spotlight" and naming names of others.
