The horrible John Hogan story 16 Years, 3 Months ago
Isn't jumping out of a window with your two little children almost the definition of insanity?

Why bother with a trial?

Erm, that would be to establish the FACTS and apportion guilt.

That's why we should bother...

Delighted to see that the court in Crete found exactly as I thought - the man was going through a burst of sheer insanity.

Strikes me Cretans understand common sense better than the Cretins in British juries.

So, JK. Does that mean that you now accept this verdict as The Truth...?

Are you now convinced that he was insane, rather than just evil?

Do you feel that justice has been served?

Will The Sun's reporting of the case tomorrow convince you that it's all a pack of lies...?

And, finally, would you bestow upon the courts in Vietnam the same credibility as the ones in Crete?

Just wondering...

Nope; I just feel the entire process was quite unnecessary - the circumstances made the conclusion obvious.

But if you want my honest opinion - the courts system rarely works on any level, anywhere.

Interestingly, a British man in jail in Vietnam has recently had a heart attack (apparently) - I never saw any mention of this in ANY media other that the Murdoch ones.

Do they have "sleaze" "tagged" so they don't miss anything salacious ?

Not at all surprised by the verdict.
Someone who jumps out of a hotel window with their children is clearly mentally unstable.
I feel sorry for all concerned in this tragic case.

your point at the start of thread is spot on - why do they always think they need long and complicated legal processes when the truth is obvious?

a man who jumps from a balcony with his two little children has lost his grip on reality and needs help.

the wife is right to feel ruined by it but revenge wont bring him back.

why do so many waste energy on hate?

Because the truth is not always as obvious as it seems. Nonetheless, you would think cases should only appear in the courts once psychiatric reports deem a person sane enough to face justice.

Still, at least the Cretan court has arrived at a verdict which would appear to be the correct one. Would I have have the same confidence in a British court in this day and age? Not on your life!

Notice the tabloid coverage - very much on the poor Mother's side - "My son died for nothing" with the subtext "so kill my husband too".

It never ceases to amaze me - the blindness of revenge.

This was the correct decision but nothing can wipe away the sheer horror of the incident.

I reckon this bloke will have shocking demons to deal with and a ghastly and unhappy life.
