Tour de France 6 Days, 10 Hours ago
Currently being held - Stage 17 (of 21) today - and, unusually all stages are in France; the 112th edition.

A spectacular endurance event, with about 190 riders sprinting up and down mountains daily - for three weeks.

With cameras on bicycles, helmets, team cars, helicopters and drones - the TV coverage is top class.

WHY?

I've never understood the rationale for this in a Tour de France. At this rate the closing stage one year may well end up being down the Mall in front of the Palace.

I say this as a keen biker.

Only once was a Tour finish not held in Paris; but the race has been launched in 11 countries
