Just seeing Alex Belfield announce that Lucy Connolly who like Alex was jailed for "hurty" words
has walked free from Jail.

Great news!

He jumped the gun. She will be released on Thursday.

When she gets out later in the week I hope she doesn't just want a quiet life, she can be a vital person in the free speech and two tier debate. I hope she is picked up by GB News and Talk TV and I feel sure Dan Wootton Outspoken will give her a hearing too, he's had her husband on already. I hope the Free Speech Union pick her up too. Rupert Lowe MP has been a very vocal supporter against her incarceration, he ought to be at the prison gates to meet her with her husband. This should not be the end of it, but the next chapter.


But to MCR, Belfield was not just hurty words. Please don't equate him with Lucy Connolly. He was/is a serial stalker of others who harassed, intimidated, targeted and blackmailed people persistently like a vendetta and encouraged others to do so with all kinds of abusive methods and false allegations, even drawing his victims wider families, wives and children into it. He was clearly someone, and still is probably, who had unhealthy time consuming fixations on others, many in broadcasting who he terrorised. Has he learned his lesson though, or will the same pattern of behaviour re-emerge?

I support the likes of Toby Young and the Free Speech Union. But free speech does not mean you can pick up the phone at 3am in the morning night after night and mouth off nonsense at people to intimidate them. If anyone did that to you, if you knew them or not, you'd probably report to the police about it.

Belfield is very unhinged, he had his 15-minute fame during lockdown, which was entertaining, but he then turnt into a pillock, which progressed to being vile.

I can't stand Iain Lee, but Belfield called him him under a fake on his radio station, the conversation was like an ex who can't admit the relationship is over.

This is the key point so many miss. Her "right" to free speech has not been curtailed. She spoke (posted) freely. But there can be consequences if you decide to encourage murder.
