I don't understand why protestors target asylum seekers. They are innocent people fleeing persecution (most are found to be).

Why aren't the protestors targeting politicians over the awful homelessness?

Of course there will be , statistically, some wrong-uns among these refugees but it's so unfair to target all of them.

People have a right to object to all this. They have a right to demonstrate against refugee policies but why target essentially innocent people? What will that achieve?

As for those silly St George flags and paintings propping up everywhere..hard pressed councils have to clean them up for road safety reasons.

Mind you St George is revered by Muslims as a Prophet so there's that. Just like Jesus is.

Curious how the women don't seem to have this fear of persecution and need to flee and take their children with them like the men do. It's such a con.

I do agree that we should be targeting the government in a much bigger and more direct way by any non violent means possible, and the pressure must be unrelenting now on them, and when summer ends the demonstrations must not wither away because of colder wetter weather and darker evenings.

My home town has suddenly got masses of flags on posts all over the place (Union Jack & St George) and mini roundabouts painted in recent days, very professionally painted roundabouts actually, very neat. I don't mind a neat roundabout but it's hardly raising the colours is it! I'm against doing it to zebra crossings. I would much prefer the Union Jack to be hoisted everywhere rather than St George's flags. We are a united Kingdom, that is our national flag and we should play on being united with that one. I relate much more to the red, white and blue Union flag of The United Kingdom of Great Britain & Northern Ireland than I do to the red cross England only flag, which sadly is definitely seen as more little Englander racist to some people while nobody sensible can argue with the Union Jack and what it represents.

An online page has been set up where I am by a group of people and they are bulk ordering flags for going up across the area for other locals who request them and saying that for every one that gets taken down another two will replace it. That's the spirit. We do need to reassert our national pride and get our self confidence back to do so. We even have an Indian restaurant in town proudly flying the Union Jack too by the way.
