More expensive to borrow.... 6 Days, 17 Hours ago
Funding the fast growing UK National Debt - getting close to £3 trillion - has become a lot more costly.

I don't understand economics; but why don't more Governments talk about our debt and getting it down? Why don't voters seem to care?

Blair and Brown were the last duo to manage a reduction in the debt - on which the annual interest has become a major burden.

In the current financial year, interest will exceed £111 billion; that's over £2,000,000,000 a week! Money down the drain.

Very good questions Wyot - rarely alluded to, as you say.

This is dead money, on old borrowings - mostly. A legacy of our past.

Sadly, the prognosis is that the internet figure will continue to rise.

Blame has become the norm; though the Tories did most of the borrowing - since 2011....

It's remarkable this weak Labour Government can't get more political traction out of this; as historically it has been the stick the Tories have used to beat them with...
