Now 4000 Americans have died in Iraq - not counting the 100,000 civilians - hmm, something wrong somewhere?

And as we complain about China's behaviour in Tibet, I wonder if over 100,000 have died in their troubles there.

Not that one terrorist act is more acceptable than another, but let's not ignore those committed in our name and with our money.

2752 Americans died in World Trade Centre

It's always fascinated me, how the Americans have allowed themselves to be hood-winked over their supposed "security".

In an "average" year around 17,000 Americans die at the hands of their own citixzens through gun crime / murder (the figure does not alter much over the last 20 years from a low of around 16,000 per year to a high of around 20,000).

So - pre World Trade Centre (ie before ANY terror attack on US soil) - and since - the Americans were 17,000 times more likely to be killed by one of their own that a "foreign" terrorist.

Even in 2001 they were STILL more that SIX TIMES more likely to be killed by a fellow American !!

The power of the gun lobby (and dodgy politics) !

According to the Tibetan government in exile official website (not an impartial source of course) over 1.2 million Tibetans have died at the hands of the Chinese.

Even though the official figure is 2752 that also includes Brits, Mexicans, Europeans, Aussies, Arabs working in the building- perhaps up to a third who died -not to mention the great New York fireman-about 200 (blame Guliani).

(one bizarre tale was although most of everything was pulverised-the Duchess of York whose office was in the building-many of her dolls were found intact-yuk !)

Sad to think that all those Afghans,Iraqis and US & British soldiers had to die because of 9/11.

Interesting to read Robert Fisk's account of touring the US to promote his book on the Middle East as one of the greatest experts-women in mid-America would rush up to him in tears and say .."but those Iraqis are coming to kill us and our children..". They really do believe it !

I wonder if that's why JK spent so much time there in the 80s giving us lots of nice songs we wouldn't have heard otherwise !
