TOPIC: 42 days?
#36011
42 days? 16 Years, 9 Months ago
It's simple - radically improve the police force; fire 50% of it; train the rest... we don't need more time, we need more efficiency.

Real terrorists not invented ones.
Real paedophiles not invented ones.
Real convictions not wrongful ones.

Jonathan will you please stop talking sense. You'll confuse the government.

I'm sure they will outlaw common sense soon anyway.

Agree - very sad days.

J Smith now wants to ignore a MASSIVE anti 42 Day vote in the LORDS by slipping in yet another attempt to get it through by sneaking it in as a seperate piece of legislation.

If we ever accept 42 days then it would be the end of the UK as a democracy. We would then live in a POLICE STATE where anyone can be taken off the streets and held for 42 days. Remember BROWN used TERRORIST laws to freeze ICELANDS assetts in what was a CIVIL ECONOMIC problem.........so our POLICE could at ANY TIME be asked to enforce this 42 day law for ANY reason - even during an election all TORY or LIBERAL candidates could be rounded up on day one of the election and not appear until after BROWN has declared New Labour the unnapposed winners - think about it - we can lock up people for the WHOLE DURATION of an election !!!! If that does not make you scared then nothing will.

Most people with any common sense are far more frightened of being mugged or stabbed than being caught up in an attack by terrorists, yet the police don't seem much use on these far more important matters in my experience.
Here's the bit I don't understand about the whole 42 day thing:
The police want to lock people up who they "suspect" of being terrorists. Well these suspicions, if logical, should be based on evidence. If the evidence exists and is real, why not just charge them?
We are going down a VERY slippery road here. It's now only a small step before we start locking people up for having unfashionable opinions, or for posting on message boards belonging to vile perverts.
Hang on, I think there's someone at the door...........

A few days ago, on BBC Radio 4, they were talking about measures within the EU to try to regulate internet forums and blogs. The claim was that there is too much freedom.

Thank goodness for at least 191 members of the Upper House - without them our freedoms would have been further eroded.

What is it - exactly - about this Labour government, that wants to turn Britain into a totalitarian state ?

Sorry to bring back David Icke into the conversation but he has predicted the following :

* Global financial chaos leading to a NWO one world currency

* Closing down or restrictions on the internet

* Chipping People because ID Cards are not great because they can be cloned and data can be lost ( hence all the current intentional data losses to build the public view to match this )

* Finally a One World State where we are kept as slaves under total surveillance with no freedoms except within the limits that the One World Government will set for us.

Now this may be possible - but if enough people speak out against these plans they will not come to fruition.

Freedom is very important. One day I can see all CCTV cameras being broken by the public if our freedoms are eroded any further. There will always be freedom fighters - even if they are in the minority and are demonised by the "State Controlled Media"

I am confident that FREEDOM and LOVE will win in the end. So there is no need to worry - just keep telling people how WRONG it is for our Government to erode Freedoms in the name of protecting our freedoms LOL - who needs terrorists when we have JACQUI SMITH !!!!

When cameron receives the proverbial baton the question will still remain but under a different mask.

George Orwell, among many others, predicted this well before Icke came along. It's been on the cards for decades.
