Paper of Record - The Times is a joke 16 Years, 9 Months ago
Picture of JJ Feild as Heinz is captioned Con O'Neill as Joe Meek.
Next page, John Birt is spelled John Burt.
My God, the illiteracy of the broadsheets is worse than the brain dead tabloids. In my day, at least we were literate. Morons writing for morons subbed by morons - no wonder the world is collapsing.
Still, IT'S A GOOD STORY!!!

The Times apart, spelling is a subject close to my heart, as it has held me back for years as a writer, I have always been not that good at it.
But it is of note that with "Text speak" and "Internet Speak" becoming more and more common, I have found my way forward as a writer, blogger etc and get published, however, I do dread the day in which I pick up a newspaper with a headline written in any of the aforementioned "new languages".

Hmmm... I am a stickler for spelling and loathe the dumbing down of the English language that is happening. I'm seeing text speak a bit too often for my liking.
As for mislabelled and misspelled photos and articles in papers, it's partly why I never bother with them. I used to be an avid reader of Record Collector magazine. When it switched to colour a few years ago, the standards declined rapidly to the point I stopped buying it.
The quality of the writing is abysmal and riddled with way too many factual errors. I'd be lucky if I got through one page without an error of some kind. Photos were frequently mislabelled. The classic one was a photo of Brian "Blinky" Davison, drummer of The Nice which Record Collector tried to convince it's readers was of Phil Collins!
Record Collector used to be a superb read renowned for it's accuracy, attention to detail and well written reviews. Now it's mere trash tossed off quickly with a proofreader who has the eyesight of Stevie Wonder.
I hate dumb and lazy mistakes like these. I used to read many magazines and papers but not any more. It's largely a waste of my time and an insult to my intelligence.
Funnily enough, Bizarre is a rare exception, a point that has been raised and made on this forum before.
