They said we were getting this impressive piece of sculpture, but we got this large lump of rusty metal instead. Blot on the landscape.
You must be joking. It's fantastic. What a wonderful sight it is before you enter the Newcastle/Gateshead area. A great piece of art in the most wonderful setting.
Having driven past it a number of times, we recently stopped and walked up to it - even more impressive).
Give me that over stuffed animals or unmade beds anytime!

It certainly makes people stop and look, but I see it every day and I agree with Denise. After a while it becomes annoying, but after a longer while you begin to treat it like another electricity pylon and ignore it, then you happen to be watching some geese flying over the countryside and it comes into view again and you think "Urgh, that thing's still there!"

Whilst i too think that the Angel of the North is beautiful, i was somewhat dissapointed with last nights AR. The fact the piece didn't belong to someone privately made the whole thing a bit of a con. I was expecting someone to get the surprise of their life! The expression on the councillors face said it all. Nice bit of PR by the BBC.
