I agree.

Shannon Mathews..another child abuse victim and the perpetuators :the media, the police, politicians and a public eager to lap up sensationalised stories.

The police get millions of pounds to go on trawling expeditions-hundreds of officers and experts will investigate child porn on the net and blatantly lie, giving the impression there are hundreds of pedophile groups out there raping and torturing children when Interpol has already produced detailed and comprehensive studies showing that 95% of child porn was produced over 25 years ago when laws were much slacker in the Scandanavian countries.

Dozens of police are on the net everyday for weeks on end looking for men to chat up in chat rooms and convince then they are talking to a 13 year old, slowly encouraging and reeling the person into a web of "thought " crime.

Any amount of money they want is provided whilst social workers throughout the country must work with impossiby small budgets and tackle the rising numbers of real abuse happening daily to children..mental, physical, sexual and from deprivation. ( tomorrow's criminals ?)

The media sensationlizes these 'busts'when they happen, exagerating and reporting every single detail..they just can't get enough.

In the end you have a grim looking BBC reporter "on the scene" in Jersey announcing to the camera.."today I am standing over 6 bodies of young children buried in the mud beneath me"..(actually a coconut shell the size of one shilling piece)

Politicians, bereft of ideas as they completely mismanage the countries finances seize upon sex and rape as a cover for their inadequacy in producing solid policies..as the Home Office Minister announces she intends to prosecute men who go with prostitutes..( something no government or leader has been able to manage in thousands of years.) She claims they will be the men who go with 'sex slaves' and thus demonstrates her appaling ignorance of the complacted world of prostitution. (If this dame doesn't know about hookers why is she got a hand in running the country ?)

And it all boils down to one innocent girl caught up in a scheme to defraud a newspaper or the authorities of reward money. Now she has been removed from her family and will live with the damage the whole affair has caused.

A mother..not the evil person the police or the media claim she is ,but probably greedy, probably broke, possibly mad (like her co-conspirator obviously is) will be banged up as yet again the media ( who never lose in these cases..it's all win win win ..) demand she is locked up forever ( and the rest of her children become victims of the system)

Too much law..too little order.

And in 2004 I heard Rupert Murdoch( whose world-wide empire promoted the Iraq War from the word go) say on the radio "the Iraq War is going swimmingly and I expect oil to be $US25 a barrel this time next year"

I'm Not A Celebrity

Re:As Murdoch and co kill more babies... 16 Years, 6 Months ago
Surely then JK there's only one solution. Ban or at least heavily censor the tabloid press. Surely? Enough is enough. We don't need newspapers anymore now that we have 24 hour bulletins and the internet..they aren't neccesary. Newspapers are crap...filled with crap...and as you keep on reminding us all they do nothing but help fuel a self destructive society.

Let's end the tabloids, celebrity, sensationalism and lies tonight!!

Our lives would surely be the better for it!

Excellent post.

Demonise poor and possibly mentally ill people and parade them on the TV as "evil"

Sort of reminds me of that chap with the moustache....in the 1930s........

Funny that.

better still..let's start a campaign for political honesty and demand our politicians stop reacting like sheep to cheap headlines.

I've never seen anything like it over the past 10-15 years..a tabloid says 'jump' and the politician says "how high ?"

Surprisngly , even the media is beginning to tire of this game..here is a writer I know caled Miranda Devine who specialises in the sort of right-wing rubbish witch every newspaper now carries to appease certain sections of the public (needless to say..she trained at a Murdoch newspaper but isn't nearly as right-wing as she sounds).

She's written a piece today about how every event now seems to have the reaction of politicians or interest groups demanding more laws..

Hollow solace in red tape after tragedy
Miranda Devine

Every time there is a mishap or tragedy, the call goes out for new laws, rules, prohibitions or licences to prevent similar harm to anyone else ever in the future. Politicians, eager to be seen to "do something", seize the opportunities offered by an apparently clamouring public, sometimes gouging new taxes along the way. Off they trot to parliament with great fanfare to pass a "Myrtle's Law" or a "Boris's Law", and speak in reverent tones of how the new legislation is a "legacy" to the departed.

Thus the politician feels popular and useful, the absolute safety of the public is assured and another layer of red tape is added to an already over-elaborate bureaucracy, with unforeseen consequences erupting inevitably down the line.

There is blood on the hands of the meejah and within this decade we will witness a civilian taking a proprietor to court over very serious charges that the act of a paper under their control directly provoked a death - be it suicide or murder.

And I suspect such a suit will succeed.

I wish the "meejah", the Police and those "powered" would stop calling Karen Matthews EVIL.

She is not EVIL - she is a very stupid woman of that there is no doubt, with as they describe it "borderline education issues" who let herself down badly but was also let down by the state and society in general.

(Don't get me wrong, I'm no Leftie Liberal, far from it, but I try not to be reactionary either!).

The Police calling her an evil woman have probably forgotten the times when they have been responsible for the banging up of innocents - Stefan Kiszko is a name to put in there (that wasn't a blunder, that was laziness in the extreme by a force that couldn't care less who was inside as long as the got "a body".)

I think West Yorkshire Police need to sort themselves out before they start with the evil tag on others.

Yes - if Surrey Police spent less money (4 million quid), effort and time on "evil fiends" like me and more on finding, stopping and arresting truly evil people (like whoever murdered Millie Dowler), the UK would be a better place.

Yes, but you know why they don't Jonathan - it's because it's hard work to get a correct conviction and take real EVIL off the streets. It's far easier getting courts and juries to agree on points of hearsay and circumstantial evidence than on actually bringing the criminals to book.

Like with Boy George - it's his word against a prostitute. Boy George is a celebrity so must be guilty - it is that sort of thinking that is going on.

What a bloody cheek that copper had to be reading from a piece of paper to the assembled media saying "it's difficult to think of anything more EVIL etc etc blah blah blah.."... I mean what, was this 'official policy' ?..that M Mathews had commited the most evil act ?? Is there a list of 'evil' acts with points to be totted up ?..how many points does a PM who tells lies to invade another country get out on the 'evil' list?

In other words it was just his f**ing personal view which he should damned well keep to himself...do we pay these people to spout of their view of others ?

But then the other day we had another frigging copper teling the media about parents who had hid drugs in their children's clothes to take into jail.."this has to be the lowest of the low etc etc".

No you great tosser..more likely to be someone with a serious drug habit in jail and reaching the point of desperation and what the hell does it matter where the person hid he drugs ??

mindless, sensationalised, headline grabing rubbish !

These cops could always get a job promoting soapie stars when they leave the force.

Whilst i think some of the things she did were through lack of education, anyone who drugs there kids (amongst other appallig acts) is evil. It is an evil thing to do, period.

the case I was talking about was a woman hiding drugs in her babies clothes to take to her husband on a jail visit.

While selling drugs to kids is abhorent it's a social problem that is getting out of control.

Obviously at some stage people have to take personal responsibity but when government policies have devestated whole sections of England's cities with the loss of manufacturing and secure jobs, you get 2 generations of jobless, aimless people and then we have real problems that need a lot more attention than just heavy rules about the dole etc.
