The boycott of the ONE SHOW is spreading from what I have heard. It is being reported on several other sites and channels.

People have had enough of the Nanny Fascist State.

The ONE show is now not watched in our house.

They can have their dwindling band of viewers who share their extreme loony left views.

It typical that white people cannot see any offence. Those who were/are subjected to it as a term of abuse have a rather different view.

If our message to those who are offended is "Get over yourself" then shouldn't we apply those wise words to ourselves too?

It might be an unpopular reflection, but gollywogs are dolls based on black people. Not surprisingly, depending on hair style, some black people do resemble gollywogs because that was the original intention of the designer. I don't know the person who Carol Thatcher was referring to, but if she had that appearance then the statement is more one of fact than of racial abuse.

Some white girls are referred to as Barbie Dolls. As there are now black Barbie dolls, if a black girl is referred to as a Barbie Doll would that be racist?

If we were not so hung up on racism and seeing offence in virtually everything, we'd all be much happier.

It reeks to me of the "Obama is the first black President" crap - reflecting the racism in the listener, not the talker.

The point is that those considering skin tint a problem were mad and should be despised. Not encouraged.

On Obama; there is a world of difference between "It ought not to matter" and "It doesn't matter".

I actually think it DOESN'T matter to 99.9% of the thinking world and we must not allow ourselves to bow to the stupids.

Those of us with brains (a point made to me by one of my best friends when he was round for dinner last weeks who happens to be black) feel "who cares what colour his skin is - is he any good?".

Having now seen a picture of the tennis player in question i can see what was meant. His hairstyle is pure gollie. I owned a golliwog as a child. Does that make me a racist because i am white? The previous correspondent started their thread with the words "The problem with you white people". Reminds me of "Love thy Neighbour" and the arguements between Bill and Eddie.There is black racism as well as white ,probably the worst example being Robert Mugabe in Zimbabwe and his attitude towards the white farmers there. Even in South Africa things seem to be going along the road to tribalism. This is racism too only its black against black. The sooner we all realise we are all the same and stop dividing ourselves along religious and national divides then the better it will be for everyone.

If someone aggressively called me a potato, I'd take offence.
But using the word as a description in a passing conversation with no offence intended is entirely different.
If someone spat HONKY at me in a defiant, sneering, insulting way, I'd object. But the word is fine in general conversation.
A golliwog, to me, is a doll with spiky hair.
Mick Hucknell was clearly a golliwog.
