With GM on the brink in the USA - Chysler doomed - the D BS in Scotland gone under - the Spanish national bank gone under yesterday - and shops everywhere closing on a daily basis.......and the recession deepening into a terrible depression.....for the last 5 months we have been told "Superman" Gordon Brown would sort it all out at the G20 this week.

Well the time has come and suddenly the BBC has stopped reporting the G20 - and Brown has disappeared. In addition Darling says there is no agreement before they even meet.

The G20 looks doomed to defeat. This will knock on into the worst recession the World has ever seen in its history. Cometh the hour and there was no man to step up to the challenge.

We will look back on this week as an opportunity lost due to the vanity of Brown and his desperate attempts to cling onto his power. The fact the World economy is collapsing this week seems to have escaped his grasp.

I am very pessimistic about the next 4 years now. The whole thing is beginning to fall apart and we could see 4 or even 5 million unemployed in the UK if things continue the way they are going. In the USA it could be far worse. In Europe who knows. Japan is collapsing as well as an economy.

What can be done ? I am not sure. The system is broken. It seems to have failed.
