I don't wish to alarm you all with this most henious of sex crimes, but, hey, feast your eyes upon this.

It would appear being drunk, red-blooded and male in a drunken 'meat market' is now a grave criminal offence

Christ! Most of my male friends should be up on assault charges. Would it have went to court had he not been on Emmerdale? Doubtful.

Breaking News:

Given the 15 minutes deliberation time, the jury were all wise to this farce. Quite how it got as far as court is beyond me....

Do you think that it is ok to randomly grope women's bums and ask for sex. There has to be some consequences for this type of behavior, maybe court is a bit too far for a first offence, but there should be at least a caution. How would you like some strange bloke to randomly grab your crotch?

I'm split here, but basically because I don't know the truth. She's going to exaggerate for the court,he's not exactly going to admit anything either,so what is the truth?

Too often these type of sexual abuse cases come down to who is the best actor,or who impresses the jury most as being believable...just so happens the best actor won the day.

Beyond doubt is the fact that sexual abuse cases seldom have any real evidence, and it boils down to word of mouth, which comes down to who impresses the jury most. Not exactly the best way of seeing real justice done.

1) He was found Not Guilty of this trumped-up charge with a deliberation time of 7 minutes. The jury who saw the evidence and those concerned in the court obviously had no doubts whatsoever.

2) On your wider point, yes and no.
In a nightclub environment where everyone is 'in drink' (and actively encouraged to be so), bums and crotches being groped is a common occurance. I've have my crotch grabbed by ladettes before, it doesn't particularly offend me nor does equate to 'sexual assault'.

Society in general needs to check the degree of acceptable behaviour, there can be no doubt about this. However, does lecherous behaviour automatically equate to sexual assault - and should it?

Blanket ban on repeats of 'On The Buses' anyone?

Hopefully he'll go ahead with this action

The fact that this was classed as 'sexual assault' would have meant all sorts of nasty repercussions if he had been found guilty - and the charge in itself probably brought forth his exit from Emmerdale, as it did the unfortunate chap (Ben somebody?) who played Scott Windsor a couple of years back when he stood trial

I predicted all this back in 2000 when it happened to me.
Sadly most false allegations end in conviction. The few that get dropped when the accuser gets a conscience are just the tip of the iceberg.
And the ones that do end in court inevitably get convictions - thank heavens this guy (like Paul McCartney's brother Mike) got acquitted - thanks, I suspect, to that rare asset, a decent lawyer.

Remember, one of my wrongful convictions was for putting my hand on someone's knee. Six months for that.
