Why this girl should not be jailed 15 Years, 10 Months ago
www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1208286...an-affair-pupil.html

This is the result of a crazy society. Two people with less than a few years age gap between them who have fallen in love.

Yet like Romeo and Juliet - we now have a tragedy unfolding because of the UK "Justice" system.

Helen Goddard has not killed anyone. She has not hurt anyone. She has made a mistake which should lead to her dismissal from her job.

Yet because of the "fury" of New Labour she is facing a jail sentence.

Compare this to the killer of IAN TOMLINSON. He was a violent thug - caught on camera assaulting a poor middle aged man - and killing him - offering him no assistance as he hit the ground with force.......and this man has not even been charged with anything and will probably get away with it on some technicality. The Police even trying to cover it up with a DODGY AUTOPSY designed to support their spin story of a heart attack.

Whilst the POLICE are sick and rotten to the core and abuse and assault people at will - we see two very young peoples' lives ruined by this incident. Two young people who probably have more to offer to society and the World than the killer at the G20.

If the judge in this case jails this young woman it would be the wrong decision. How can that help the situation ? it will force her to probably give up work for ever because she is a very young early 20s girl - in fact she looks around 17 or 18 in the photos. The judge has to take her "maturity" into account.

I wish this girl and her family all the best and hope they come through it stronger. The judge should suspend the sentence as a warning to her that she cant ever do this again - which would be appropriate - because her punishment has been losing her career. Very very sad state of affairs when common sense does not prevail.

I'm a bit split here - I do agree that persons in positions of responsibility should not take advantage of immaturity and I think they should have waited until the girl was 16 (although the new law makes it 18 for teachers with pupils)... it puts a difficult pressure on the younger person. Likewise, an employment situation.

Although a 15 year old is often quite capable of deciding (just as many 21 year olds are not)... the problem comes with what is or is not acceptable to society.

Should society be involved in sex? My feelings are they are too much and too blanket; there should be education and information provided at a younger age.

Quite a sympathetic story by the mail, nice to see,but would they have given the same slant had it been a boy/man situation? Probally not.Harps back to Queen Vic's refusal to admit lesbians even existed.

Anyway I'm not split, guilt is not even questioned, details were openly given. The woman is guilty of underrage sex,and betrayal of trust. The only argument is the sentence. What would you give a male teacher 11 years older than his pupil who admitted sex?

I think most kids are very well educated about sex and it's consequences, so that doesn't seem to be an answer. The law needs to be able to consider whether there is actual consent even if it is not legal consent. This does make a difference in real terms even if not in legal terms. And here is the problem - the law does not operate in tune with reality. There has to be a line, but judgements must involve understanding and compassion.

A mutual unlawful relationship is not as bad as a forced abusive relationship. The two are entirely different. Both the law and society must learn to acknowledge that. More harm can come from rigidly enforcing the law than from a mutually consenting relationship which operates outside of it.

I am a little bit worried about the view that it is inappropriate for a 24 yr old to have a coffee with a 15 yr old. What is inappropriate about having a coffee, or a meal, or attending the cinema, or doing anything else that is perfectly ordinary with someone who just happens to be a different age? This is how we end up with a "broken society" - because we create laws which do not allow us to share normal human warmth and friendship with our fellow citizens.

It's a vile story and disgusting situation on so many levels. I don't believe that a person in a position 'of trust' should be any less guilty or innocent than anyone else.

Why ?..it's the most garbage of concepts I've ever heard off and it's crap.We are used, abused and influenced by people 'in trust' every friggin day..politicians, police, local authority, wealthy corporations. They all use their influence

and there are some worse than others including a revolting ex-Aussie media mogul who marries a broad 45 years younger than him. Why ?..because he inluences the entire fucking world into going into a war to kill tens of thousands of innocent Iraqis and then turns around and uses his empire to flog newsprint full of tales of kiddie sex.

And if he was broke no-one would look at the ugly scrawny fucker twice.

Sure this Mail story is 'sympathetic' to some degree..but that's because she's a pretty girl and middle class. If she was fat and working class just imagine what they would write..just as they've gotten deep in the gutter with a mind numbing tale of GG on his push-bike.

Britain once was fun when sex was naughty, underground and went on all overt the place.

Now it's perverted because those running the joint have perverted minds. And tabloids dictate the rules. Time to save a few trees and the sooner they bite the dust the better..which will be in about 5 years.

BR's right..kill an innocent drunk and a guilty copper walks free..2 females having a tryst and lives are destroyed when love really should be honoured and admired.

(rant ends here)
