Didn't the last Pope condemn his decision to launch the illegal war?

It depends on what you think of Blair i guess. Personally, I think he's the best PM this country has had in recent decades, easily in my life time of many, many, well .. a few years.

If he's the best I'd hate to see the bloody worst. the man is an incompetent sound bite led fool. He'll change any policy to get a vote, at least with someone like Ken Livingston you get a consistant ideology even if you don't agree with his views. Blair and his cronies have been a disaster they should all bugger off and stick to running Scotland.

Look forward to it, Martin 17 Years, 11 Months ago
I'm still wondering why no one has done a cover of "Big John" (remember "at the bottom of this mine etc ..." suitably adapted for Prescott !

Coming out of the closet; I've always rather liked Prescott... 17 Years, 11 Months ago
Ever since he thumped that egg thrower, I reckon we could do with more like him!
And shagging a bit on the side? Thoroughly to be approved of.
Enough of all this neo-Christian hypocritical morality.
I thought Clinton using his office for a blow job by an intern showed great intelligence, taste and good sense.

I don't think the Labour partry will "out" Blair at all. I'd be very, very suprised if we saw a situation like when Thatcher was kicked out by the tories. I understand that many people don't like Blair and I expect that you are people who didn't vote for him in the last election. However, I also know many other people who do like him and voted for him. I'm very happy with all that he has managed to do in the last 10 years, there is a lot more to do, no doubt, but i'd rather be living in Britain in 2006, than living there in 1996. The only benefit of living in 1996 for me would be that I was ten years younger, but that's all.

Well George, speaking as someone who met him years before he got the gig... 17 Years, 11 Months ago
at a Boss show in the early 90's... I predicted he'd be PM and thought he'd make a good one.
And felt much the same when he called me a great Englishman in 1997.
But when I experienced at first hand the British judicial system and watched the Government do nothing about blatant miscarriages of justice, and then when Tony agreed to invade another country and personally sanctioned, in our name, the murder of innocents, I went right off him, I'm afraid.
I don't like murderers, especially when they claim to be doing it on my behalf.
However genuine and nice they once appeared.
At least we weren't killing people in such bulk in 1996.

Thanks for the reply JK, and thank you for letting me have my say too 17 Years, 11 Months ago
I'm sure we could all debate about this non-stop. I have no problem with other people dissagreeing with me, infact I quite like to hear views from the other side of the debate as much as I like to talk to people who also agree with me. I'm unaware of the exact numbers that the previous government killed in the first gulf war, but the tories themselves did admit they too would have gone to war, so it wouldn't have made any diffrence either way. I myself supported the governments decision on the war on terror and the removal of Saddam Hussien. Wheather or not that will make me a hated figure here I don't know as I can see most people on this message board do not share my views on this topic, however, JK you have allowed me to state my very diffrent opinion to your own, so thank you for that.

I'm personally totally in favour of a war on terror and the removal of Saddam (I think)... 17 Years, 11 Months ago
I also believe those who abuse the vulnerable should be stopped and punished.
But I don't believe in shooting innocent Brazilians or slaughtering thousands of Arabs or locking up tragic cot death mothers as murderesses.
One does not justify the other.

I agree that people in prison who are wrongfully convicted of crimes is terrible. I can only imagine what that person must be going through, and I know it ain't pretty.

I don't think that all the faults in the world (and indeed, all the triumphs) can ever be credited to one person (be in Blair, Major, Thatcher, Bush, Clinton, or whoever). Sadly, this will always be an imperfect world no matter what side of the fence you are on, someone will always loose out. It sucks big time. Anyway, I've had my 2 cents here. Thanks again.
