Re:Best Dr Who of the Smith era 15 Years, 1 Month ago
Loved it, probably one of the best episodes of the entire return of Doctor Who. A story beautifully written by Richard Curtis, with no 'ear' joke in sight. Tony Curran was remarkable as Vincent and in 45 minutes the episode simply told. The monster of the week, so many connotations with the monsters in the mind of the artist, was secondary to the real battle that brings it closer to home - the one against depression - something many people, me included, are dealing with every single bloody day. Nice touch by the BBC to give the Action Line number a plug at the end. Doctor Who and real issues, who'd have thought it.
