Can Cable survive the latest media "good story"? 14 Years, 6 Months ago
Who cares whether or not he tends to boast when interviewed by attractive young ladies?
Is he any good? Yes - I suspect. Do we need him in government? Yes - I suspect. Does anything matter to the media other than "it's a good story"? No, of course not. Silly question.

I am seriously doubting Vince Cable's judgement.

Firstly on tuition fees when at one point he hinted he would not vote for a policy that he himself had put together.

As for what he said re: Murdoch, on the one hand I applaud it, but hang on.... Cameron has now announced that Cable will now have no role in the Murdoch affair. So well done Vince, you could have achieved something here, but have scuppered any influence you might have had.

Very poor judgement.

But for me the revealing bit (not commented on by anyone) is the seductive giggles on the tape by the flirting girls trying to wheedle boasts out of the vain old man.

Anything to get a good story.

Agree with David,Cable has the right ideas, but has acted like a fool.
This fool made his own 'good story',you can't blame the media for reporting bias.

I never really bought the 'Cablemania' that bubbled up earlier in the year. He's good but he's always been strangely amateurish. All the same, this has been a pathetic campaign against him. It's set up a fascinating political problem: the Tories can't kick him out without undermining the coalition, and they can't keep him in without making him seem above the normal rules; Labour can't attack him without alienating those many supporters who hate Murdoch, and they can't support him without strengthening the Coalition. I'd advise both parties to move on while they can.

This is a "Good Story" and there no one but Cable himself to blame for it being reported. Very bad judgement indeed, but there is a spin which I imagine will be started soon and will help - He was being honest and gave a straight answer.

of course he won't survive.

Attacking the Sinking Sun King (a wounded animal-always most dangerous) is sacriligious.

It shows how beholden pathetic pollies are to the tabloids and the in particular, one boss.

These reporters (?)have no shame now. Frank Sinatra was right when he said all those years ago in Sydney that they were "2 dollar hookers"

His policies were useless but I don;t like to see someone so conned and it is unfair. But it shows up just how powerful the media has become with it's unfettered power.

I keep saying it : be ready for a determined attack upon the BBC with Cameron's co-operation.

Up The Revolution !!
