Gagged: Convicted killer who protested his innocence is freed from jail after 18 years... on condition he doesn't speak to the media

www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1341011...snt-speak-media.html

Outrageous, even the former deputy chief constable of merseyside police thinks he's innocent. And this happening under a government containing supposed liberals!

This is really shocking. There are times when even cynical old JK gasps at the blatant collusion between departments of government.
Including many times in my own wrongful conviction and pending appeal.

Agree - quite shocking.

Justice has become less about right and wrong, and more about covering-up your tracks (and any "evidence").

I was also shocked at this, but what absolutely floored me was

"Tory peer Lord Hunt of Wirral, who was Gilfoyle's former MP, was also included in the media ban"

So even the poor sod's former - not even current - government representative can't say anything on his behalf.

Sounds to me like "a Liberty spokesperson" could usefully be making all his media comments for him.

Sorry, just had to remind myself of the details of the case and promptly fell about laughing with incredulity.

This is the best theory the cream of our criminal investigators could come up with

"Detectives believed Gilfoyle fooled his wife into writing [a suicide] note and somehow persuaded her to climb a ladder with a noose around her neck.

Right

"The doctor who declared Mrs Gilfoyle dead told police that she had died six hours earlier - when her hospital porter husband was at work. [The doctor's] notes were not shown to the jury nor mentioned during Gilfoyle's trial in 1993. Merseyside Police have repeatedly denied that they existed."

Hmmmm
