"Hundreds more supporters gathered - the loud speakers boomed out rallying music and the men women and their children screaming the Colonel's name.
We waited. Then came the first reports of explosions across the city. First on mobile phones then by word of mouth.
And just as loudly as they had shouted for the Leader, they quietly started to melt away as the government revealed Gaddafi would not now be speaking.
It was as if someone had blown out a candle - the flame of anger temporarily gone and replaced by the chill of fear.
Col Gaddafi's supporters left to go to their homes and he chose to wait for another moment to launch his venom on the West.
It doesn't mean he was cowed. It doesn't mean his support has deserted him. It just means Tripoli is hunkering down - just like Gaddafi, who insists he will live and die in Libya.

All, the brave Gaddafi !
The man who would take on the World (but announced a "ceasefire" about 10 seconds after he heard about the UN resolution - then broke it!)
What comes out of his mouth is similar to what comes out of his arse.
He'll be gone within days.
