I saw the last show of the season, and the top prize was $5 million!!! But the US show was nowhere near as exciting as the UK version. Using future contestants to open the boxes/cases is much more interactive than having 22/26 bimbos. Also, on the last show they had a satalite link to Celine Dion, to give the contestant advice - What useful advice could she give??!! (It was a big night on TV that night thoug, as Deal No Deal was followed by The Apprentice (with Donald Trump) final. And the USA version included a public-vote by phone in on who should win!! (alan Sugar is, at least, his own man!).

I heard on the Chris Evans Show that he was offered the job of hosting "Deal or no Deal". How different it would be if the ginger one was hosting it.

I watch the US version as I've no choice.but what wrong with models opening cases, the games the same.of course theres US razzamatzz bullshit.they do who wants to be a millionare better over here.ask questions get answer so more contestants get on.none of that are you sure and Tarrant staring at contestant for what seems like forever.I will say one thing about Brit TV it pisses over the crap here.we get 20 minutes of commercials per hour.

British TV has adopted the US commercials habit of showing about 20 minutes worth per hour. During one show I timed 23 minutes of adverts. Channel 4 have even taken to showing commercials straight after the opening theme, then again five minutes later. We used to get a 2 minute break every 15 minutes. Now the channels are more about making as much money as possible, rather than satisfying the viewer. That's also why late night TV has been taken over by premium rate phone in quiz shows. Commercial TV is in a sorry state.

Fortunately the BBC is still commercial free.

Maybe 6 minutes per break. They have definately "gone Yank". Plus, overnight ITV is one long money making premier rate phone in quiz.

You ask "Whats wrong with models opening cases?" Nothing, but by using future contestants, the viewer gets to know the people on the show before they get to open the cases themselves. For example, the player usually asks the "case-openers" advice, so when the other "case-openers" become the player, the regular viewers already know a bit about the player. Just adds to the appeal of the show.

I think you are talking rubbish.

"The amount and frequency of advertising is regulated by Ofcom. Ofcom licences limit the amount of advertising ITV can broadcast to seven minutes-per-hour averaged over a day. In any particular hour the precise amount may vary and during peak viewing times (6.00pm to 11.00pm) the maximum in an hour is eight minutes. The length of commercial breaks within programmes is also limited to be shorter than the breaks between programmes."

Channel4 100% definitely shows more than 8 mins of ads per hour.
the guy that you're "rubbishing" never mentioned ITV.

I just "cut and pasted" the rule from Ofcom's website, and to keep it brief, used only ITV as the example. Channel 4 come under the same regulations as ITV. 8 minutes an hour. (As do all terestrial broadcasters). So, hash as it may seem, saying there is more is either not true - or the TV stations are broadcasting too many ads. If it's the latter, I suggest you inform Ofcom.

I've seen the UK version it started 3 month before I left.the only diff with the US version is you have 5 family members on stage with you for advice and of course an over the top skimpy dressed yank to open the case.I actually think the thrill is still there.
