TOPIC: Speeding fine
#78148
Speeding fine 13 Years, 6 Months ago
Done for doing 38mph in a 30 zone.

Can I challenge this in any way?
Really does annoy me that I'm still under stress from my trial, the police were the cause of this,so why should I pay them?
Any ideas welcome please.

Your basically fucked they been did they send you a photo of your vehicle with the speed your going ?

Everyone has a right to appeal my old man was fined and given 6 points for doing 63 on a motorway and being a driver 42 years never had a fine or been pulled over only if he tail light was not working. You get fined for putting your parking ticket upside down and fined if your disabled page fell on the floor.

But do appeal send a letter.

Nothing you can do old bean. I have a string of convictions for speeding..)last one...2009). Didn't help my cause when stopped when I can't but help ask as to why 'they aren't out catching burglars and muggers?'. They don't like that one little bit.

The police hate my guts. The feeling is completely mutual.

Whats the fine £60? Pay up and move on. We all learn the hard way.

I got done recently doing exactly the same speed (38mph) on my motorbike. If this is your first time they should offer you a speed awareness course which means you wont cop for the 3 points on your licence. The cost is still around the same though and you'll spend 3 hours being patronised about the dangers of speeding but its worth doing not to get the points..

The speed limit was 30mph and you went 38mph, which part of 30mph speed limit didn't you understand.

If you don't wan't to get a speeding ticket, then stay within the speeding limit, they are there for a reason to keep pedestrians and other roadusers safer. You broke the limit by a clear margin.

You are guilty as charged my friend.

I was having a conversation with a friend of mine who works for the CPS, she said the guidelines they use are if the offending vehicle is doing more than 10% + 2mph of the speed limit they will prosecute.
So you would probably have got away with it had you been doing a maximum of 35mph.

So dont get doing more than 79 mph on the motorway or the buggers will do you!

You can ask for a calibration report, might be worth a google.

Re:Speeding fine 13 Years, 6 Months ago
Thanks Steve, but seems a bit complex.
And for those who know less about my history the reason I'm doing this is simple.
When arrested, and illegally detained on the word of a bent policeman the police who transported me in their car for over 100 miles consistently drove at 10 mph over the speed limit.
Why should I want to pay money into this corrupt organization? Yes I'm guilty of course, but they have no moral right to profit by it.

I think you are in the range (36-38 mph in a 30 mph) where you can go on a Speed Awareness Course. If you get an option, go on it. It means you avoid a fine and the points, (but obviously pay for the course, which is slightly more than the fine).

I went on one, with all the negative thoughts, but actually found it a few hours well spent. I no longer speed, except on the Motorway, where 70 mph (on clear condions/road) is too low. (And nothing I learnt on the course suggested otherwise).

A sweeping statement. The police are a very large organisation consisting of many different types of people. Some whom choose the job because they genuinely want to help people, others who choose it because of the security, and some who like the power it gives them, and often abuse it.

Thanks you for that Robbie,I'm sure JK and I will sleep much better knowing that it was only part of the police that deliberately falsified evidence to try and get a wrongful conviction
