To be honest I think this is getting way out of hand. Two football supporters engaging in drunken banter will always end up with some nonsense spouted, quite harmlessly and without any malice truly intended.

So why is this online monster called Twitter any different?

This guy could end up in prison. Beyond a fucking joke.

How did this get to court in the first place?

I gave up on twitter a few months ago when a friend twittered she was putting the child to bed.

Like fucking facebook, twitter is treated like it's a frigging god or something.

When the internet is replete with insults theats and libels on a million websites, why the hell is twitter and faceook treated as though it is important?.

ps: the fact facebook deleted me has not influenced me in my dislike for it

There's a spotty little bloke who lives near me who tweets every single inane detail of his life. I know this because he took in a parcel for me once and even tweeted that! 'Taken in parcel for neighbour' - complete with picture of said parcel. I saw him drinking some soup the other day. Sure enough, an hour later: 'Just drinking some soup'. I suppose the untweeted life isn't worth living. Horrible.

Ah but why I hate Twitter (and have huge arguments with Fry about it) is that it encourages superficiality. For those of us tempted by such things, it can become a seductive way of wasting your time and life on trivia instead of getting on with more rewarding - but harder and more time consuming - endeavours.

I hate social networks I refuse to sign up to them for 3 reasons

1. They can make money out of details.
2. I don't want to hear every personal thought or detail everyday
3. Friends and family can text me sensibly

I got looks from people when I say I'm not on Facebook here's my number.

And it breeds superficiality, too. Parasitic tweet readers! Masses of lazy hacks seem to make a living these days just reporting on tweets! Entire 'news' stories are generated by someone sitting on their bum reading these brainless witterings.

People got nothing better to do now I wonder how many people tweeted 'it's snowing' on Sunday ? I don't even like reading people Facebook walls if I go round someone's house they bore me. People always state the obvious on these sites so what's the point ?

I read a pointless one on a Football site 'Faversham Town FC clubhouse was full up at half time.

There is a balance with all things and I think it is right for the police to take a hardline on racist abuse
on the internet. They should try everyone on Stormfront and other similar websites and throw them in jail for a start.
No matter who you are racist to if you are racist you need to be arrested and tried. That will soon put a stop to it.
You can insult people without being racist, sexist, homophobic, sectarian, anti semitic, anti capitalist, anti working class
etc etc

Fry is so ludicrously contrary he'll probably decide one day that he hates Twitter, and then all of his sheepish followers will suddenly decide the same thing because 'Stephen said so'.

He's the 'new Messiah'...rather like that scene in Life Of Brian he'll soon be telling all of his disciples to 'fuck off!' They will respond with 'how do we fuck off Oh Lord?'

I've noticed Fry's bon mots have declined rapidly since he first got fame for sending such witty twittys.

I think it began when he started to complain about being stuck on a plane somewhere.
