Happy 200th Birthday Charles Dickens 13 Years, 5 Months ago  
One of the things which make Charles Dickens' books so very readable is the way he introduces so many small but not insignificant quirky characters. The friendly waiter in David Copperfield is one of my favourites. Unfortunately, they are usually overlooked by TV / Movie producers which is why there are few adaptations which match the quality of the original novels.
