Capello Resigns ! 13 Years, 5 Months ago
What a classic "Take the millions and run" !

He was pathetic in the last World Cup but managed to get a new (improved !) contract - and just when he knows he will flop again, he runs !!!

Brilliant !!!!

Harry ? Can you be the (next) England (super / wonder) manager (for this week anyway) LOL !

You need a Scot in charge of your National team. We're pretty much running the Premier league.

We need a Englishman with fire and bollocks. I want either Harry Redknapp, Big Sam. Alan Pardew the smug bastard but did wonders for my beloved Hammers and doing well at Newcastle but too arrogant to be liked. If Roy Hodgson had more of winning record then I give him the nod he screwed up Liverpool

It might be either these to

Capello quite right to resign; if he can't choose his own captain, who wants to work for people who reckon a man is guilty unless proven innocent?

Very convenient.
Why waste years working on an tournament only to quit weeks before it starts?

Once again England fans are the mugs

They should put a monkey in charge. It wouldn't do any worse than Stuart Pearce.

Looks like I was right (again) !

In their editorial, Repubblica said: "In England you don't joke about xenophobia in sport and Capello did not understand that, or maybe he chose not to understand it."

It went on to say: "'But not even a child can really believe that a captain's armband, after an insult which is still unclear, is enough to get rid of a manager, to make him slam the door.

"The position is lost when you are no longer winning, when you play badly, when you are not accepted by the team, when you end up getting on everyone's nerves.

"Achievements that Fabio the hardman managed to secure one after the other, with such success that he had never seen before in his long career."

It went on: "The inventors of football (even if they have not won a World Cup since Queen Elizabeth was a young girl) could put up with an Italian on the bench on one condition: that he triumphed and he could reverse history.

"Instead he was a disaster, the South Africa World Cup was horrendous and there was the fear it would be repeated at the European Championships.

"Before it got to that, the baggage had to be lost."

William Hill already offer only 6-1 about perennially trophyless England actually winning a major tournament under the new boss (whoever it may be).

Sounds like a good bet to me.

Save your money itk. Scotland may not be the best at international level, but at least our fans are well aware of the fact.

I see Capello has gone off to Spain (to spend some of the £14,000 a day that we have paid him over the last 4+ years).

I wonder what his tax arrangements were ?

'Arry Redknapp must have the coldest car in the country, because he's always got his window open to chat to whatever old hack happens to be around. He's evolving into a new hybrid - half human, half BMW.

You'd have thought he had learnt his lesson about creeping-up to journalists after his recent trial !

I'd have loved Redknapp forever if, when asked at the press conference if he'd take the England job, he'd replied "they'd have to bung me a fortune into a secret bank account".

I'm beginning to think Redknapp may be too much of a "loose cannon" for the FA (which is of course why Brian Clough never got the gig).

I think they will play safe and choose someone else.

I was right (again) !

They are getting the excuses in BEFORE we get the humiliation !
