What I need to know is; when Augustus died, did Blessed actually... 18 Years, 9 Months ago  
manage to keep that still for the several minutes of closeup whilst Evil Livia rambled on or did they freeze frame him and dub her over?
It was a remarkably moving and effective sequence.
Someone please tell me how they did it!

You really wil have to buy the DVD, JK! It includes a documentary on the making of the series, with all sorts of interesting stuff included.

It was, apparently, a continuous take. Herbert Wise explained to BB that the camera was going to do a gradual, deep close-up on him while he died and Blessed certainly came up with the goods. You can actually 'see' the life go out of him at one point.

Incredible stuff.
