With all this extra security at tha airport with everyone been searched and processing time taking up to 4 times as long, surely this is unsustainable. I know this is a controversible idea, but how about concentrating the security time on people of an Asian persuasion, since all the suicide bombers so far have been asian. This may seem racist, but it is in fact, true. What are the chances of a suicide bomber been a young caucasion woman, I would say next to nothing, but as much time is spent searching these people as those in the high risk categories. You can never eliminate the risk completely so why not minimize the risk and make flying practical for the travellers.

This is not like drug mules people aren't going to accept a bomb from someone else. Is it politically correctness gone mad not to adopt this approach. I'm waiting for the backlash.

You are possibly right - for the time being - by saying that possible bombers appear to fall into certain groups, but as soon as these groups are targetted, surely other methods will be adopted?

(Also one of the current people in custody is in fact a white male - who changed his name on becoming Muslim - but if he retained his original name, he may not "appear" on one of your "watch" lists).

I'd also be very very surprised if in the near future we didn't see people OUTSIDE that description taking some form of action (after all, it's not just those groups that feel side-lined and ignorred by government actions - it's virtually everybody !)

The BEST way to protect ALL citizens is to refrain from going round the world bombing (and causing subsequent mayhem) everywhere that we think we can get away with it (and also to stop supporting others that do this).

seems like a good idea, but 'profiling' would apparently create a loophole, whereby the wily muslim terrorist, who knows he will be searched as a matter of course, may sneak the bomb into a white caucasian grandmothers bag. Even though they do ask the question 'did you pack your own bag today?' this would not close the loophole.
Personally I think the PC brigade are just too scared to introduce this lest they create an outrage.
