Eric Sykes RIP 13 Years ago
A comedy genius. What an age though, 89. So much stuff he did too.

Very sad.
I believe the only British comedy great of that era still alive is Denis Norden at 90...

A great comedy writer too, I believe he wrote for Peter Sellers and Frankie Howerd.

Another national treasure gentle-man Eric Sykes among the postwar greats of 'absurdity'. R.I.P.

Talent born of the absurd-horrors of war which also turned his pal jazz trumpeter Terry Milligan into arch absurdist Goon-writer Spike.

Without such observational/absurdist talents the 1960s-ongoing vital, satirical/alternative/absurdist, often overpaid comics exposing peacetime psychological-wars would not exist.

My friend Nordic directed him in (I think) his last film appearance; a delicious cameo in Son of Rambow.

Amazing writer yet his own humour in his own roles was much, much gentler and subtle.

He's the only highlight in the notorious Curry and Chips.

Yes, a great talent.

What amazes me most was his accurate timing, as he was almost deaf I believe.

A sad loss, same age as my father.
His partner in comedy Hattie Jacques lived not 100 yards up the road from my home in Margate.
RIP Eric,God Bless.
