BBC reporting that the Games security will not be ready (well, they've only had since 2005 !) and that 3500 troops will be moved from Germany to patrol instead.

www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-18804547

What with tanks, warships in the Thames, RAF on standby in N London, rocket launchers, drones and now troops on the streets - do they know something that they are not telling us?

All sane Londoners should move to Scotland until at least October (angel, you could make a killing here - how many rooms can you rent out????)

I find this a bit hard to believe. The security staff are normally civilians and usually university graduates wanting to earn a few pennies after their finals. Either the pay is so low for them not to bother or there has just been some massive admin cock-up. The other reason could be it is just an excuse for a more officious presence on the streets.

... as I suggested in my original post.

This really has been a massive cock-up from start to finish.
We cannot even sell tickets for "the biggest event on earth".

I passed a travel agent this morning which had both Boxing and Swimming finals tickets - and even closing ceremony ones (pricey - but still available).
We've more than 1 million football tickets left - and that supposed to be our national sport LOL !

Still, Seb has been able to travel the UK (for the schoolkids) with his silly little flame !

The words piss-up and brewery spring to mind.

(Thought - The Chinese games were probably run by the military, but in civilian clothes. This really will look like a militarized games !)

If you scroll to the bottom of this page (the one where Theresa says it'll all be OK !!!), Foz

www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-18813729

You will see the following statement LOL ! -

"Meanwhile, MPs on the Intelligence and Security Committee have warned in their annual report that the Olympics have put Britain's intelligence and security agencies under "unprecedented pressure".

PS - "Official" 2012 Olympic Books already half price in The Works !

I have just discoverd that the "Group Consultant" of G4S - the firm that cannot employ / train people even when millions are unemployed - is none other than our old friend Lord (John) Reid, former Labour (it had to be, didn't it?) MP and holder of numerous Cabinet posts under B-Liar !

The press release announcing Reid's appointment says (believe it or not !!!!) -

G4S is the world’s leading international security solutions group, which specialises in assessing current and future risks and developing secure solutions to minimise their impact across a wide range of geographic markets and business sectors.

G4S is a major provider of risk management and protection to governments and major corporate customers around the world and is an expert in all aspects of local and international secure logistics.

The joy felt by ITK - on hearing of any bad news about the Olympics - is almost palpable.

A bit sad that, but with an event of this magnitude, some problems are to be expected. The weather will be critical and, no doubt, ITK will find someone to blame if its wet.

I hope and think it'll be a credit to all in the UK; I'll be at many of the events - starting with the cycling on Box Hill, Surrey.

"lethal force" will be used to protect the games .... 13 Years ago
... but what about the people on the ground ?

===

The RAF will use "lethal force" if the Olympics are threatened, the Games air security commander has said.

Speaking at RAF Northolt in north-west London, Air Vice-Marshal Stuart Atha said a plane could be shot down as a last resort in a "worst-case scenario".

Asked who would give the order, he said: "The highest level of government makes that decision."

A Home Office spokesman said: "We are planning on a terrorist threat environment that is severe...

HMS Ocean is also set to return to London with a deployment of Royal Marines to provide security on the River Thames.

It comes the day after ground-based air defence systems were installed at four sites in and around London.

I hope you enjoy it - after all, you'll STILL be paying for it after the next SEVEN Olympics !

Stay Safe !!!

(there is a noticeable reluctance by those who have bought tickets to see any of the downsides, isn't there?)

It just confirms that I was right all along Gary .... that no one is interested, and its a massive con.

===

Up to 30,000 more Olympic tickets are likely to go on sale to the public in the coming days after Locog's short break partner Thomas Cook returned a large batch of unsold seats -including some for the most sought after events.

Well, you are ITK!

And the billions who will watch the Games in over 200 countries.

You were against the Jubilee celebrations, now the Olympics; is there any high profile/large scale/UK event that you ARE in favour of?

Or do you just condemn all because of cost etc...

The mass moronic morons will watch anything that is "fed" to them ! (but wont pay for tickets, apparently !)

Anything that does not cost me money / or anything where I am told that i SHOULD be taking part and enjoying when it is clear that hardly anyone is bothered (like, for example, being told there are street parties everywhere when I have NEVER EVER seen one and do not know anyone who has LOL) !!!!

As you are unable to think of any, I'll take your answer as a 'NO' then, ITK....

According to Craig Murray the 3,500 shortfall were volunteers. He writes,

"The extra 3,500 military personnel it was today announced will be used at the games cover a shortfall in Group Four personnel. Group Four were providing 4,000 paid staff and 6,000 unpaid volunteers. It is the unpaid volunteer numbers which are short by 3,500."

You can have as many Jubiolympics as you want, Gary - as long as YOU PAY FOR THEM !

Even you will accept, surely, that to ask me to pay (forever !) for something I neither wanted nor will take any part in, is unreasonable.

I notice you are unable to explain why -

a) thousands of tickets have been returned by agents, or
b) why a million football tickets remain unsold, or
c) why - if there is not a security disaster pending - such extreme measures have had to be taken ?

But as I said in a previous post ... those who have bought tickets (LOL !) dont want to accept that they may have been foolish, do they?
