Morrissey compares effect of London 2012 Olympics to Nazi Germany

Morrissey has likened modern Britain to Nazi Germany in a scathing attack on the London 2012 Olympics.

A long message from the 'Irish Blood, English Heart' singer was posted on True To You in which he opined that the event has reignited the "spirit of 1939 Germany" in "media-brand Britain".

A passage in Morrissey's open letter read: "I am unable to watch the Olympics due to the blustering jingoism that drenches the event. Has England ever been quite so foul with patriotism? The "dazzling royals" have, quite naturally, hi-jacked the Olympics for their own empirical needs, and no oppositional voice is allowed in the free press. It is lethal to witness.

"As London is suddenly promoted as a super-wealth brand, the England outside London shivers beneath cutbacks, tight circumstances and economic disasters. Meanwhile the British media present 24-hour coverage of the 'dazzling royals', laughing as they lavishly spend, as if such coverage is certain to make British society feel fully whole.

"In 2012, the British public is evidently assumed to be undersized pigmies, scarcely able to formulate thought. As I recently drove through Greece I noticed repeated graffiti seemingly everywhere on every available wall. In large blue letters it said WAKE UP WAKE UP."

Morrissey also spoke disdainfully in his note about the presence of David and Victoria Beckham.

Before again urging the UK to "WAKE UP", the musician added: "It could almost have been written with the British public in mind, because although the spirit of 1939 Germany now pervades throughout media-brand Britain, the 2013 grotesque inevitability of Lord and Lady Beckham (with Sir Jamie Horrible close at heel) is, believe me, a fate worse than life."

The 53-year-old, who has been quoted as saying that he plans to retire in the next two years, displayed similar sentiments during the Diamond Jubilee in June and the Royal Wedding last spring.

Morrissey - great music, good lyrics...

But socially? The clue is in the line "as I recently drove through Greece in my luxury vehicle..."

Not stopping to help anyone? No boys with thorns in their sides?

At least he makes much better music than Bob (I fly first class) Geldof.

He is one to talk about patriotism. In 1992 he waved a union jack at the Madstock festival whilst singing "National Front Disco". This was followed by the crowd hurling coins at him. I don't know why the press print this garbage anymore, few people care about what he says or are interested in his music. It must be nearly 20 years since his last decent album "Vauxhall and I".

Never got an angle on Morrissey although I've enjoyed his music. I think he's an activist looking for a cause.

But why have a go at Becks and Spice?. Fairly harmless.

Let's remain calm, 'Fair & Balanced' about fascist-market "Brand Britain" Morrisey.

Brand 'Coke' is ubermeister for Tsar Coe's mob, while brand logo 'Pepsi' strictly in the salt-mines gulag, is personna non-grata near zone-Olympic size Westfield Holy Mall cathedral of capitalism.

And, remember even Capitalist 'DigiGod' Gates multi-billionaire turned pro-social philanthropist-again, still doesn't skimp on his own home & travel comforts. That, after having foisted on the world what class-act Apple/Mac users term, "Microshite"-Words AND Music.

Much lurve from a hypocrite M-Soft user (can't afford a Mac).

Lol.

P.S. "Calm Down Dear, It's Only An Advert".
