Very disappointing season opener; trying too hard to be clever, forgetting character developement; muddled plot; too much fast "technical" dialogue; too much reliance on effects... and I really haven't warmed to Karen Gillan, an ice cold actress without depth.

I was disappointed when I saw the dreaded pond. I hoped we'd seen the last of her. Other than that I thought this episode worked well. The Doctor allowed to be in control rather than just pulling weird faces. The story was not particularly demanding but it was still engaging and enjoyable. Not sure about the ending with all the "Dr Who" "Who is The Doctor" etc ..

But just as a was starting to feel good again .. next week's clips show that we still haven't got rid of the dreaded pond. Yikes!!
