I'm delighted; I'm proved right that Ivan Lendl has made all the difference (shame it wasn't Wimbledon or I'd have made £700 like I did on Eurovision)... it's clearly now really Top Four and Andy's one of them.

I listened to Set One (over an hour) then dozed off (don't have Sky) so only saw the result this morning.

Well done Andy! You've done yourself and Scotland proud and more to the point, silenced the critics who doubted you! We knew you could do it son.

One thing's for sure; I won't get 7-1 next summer! But I don't mind. It's not the financial reward I wanted; just the proof I was right about Ivan (Andy is playing the way Lendl played - he used to drive me mad, having met and supported him since he was a teenager - because he'd often collapse in mid game but then frequently would come back and win in triumph; terribly exciting if infuriating).

For some reason, those players who are 100% reliable (Sampras, Borg) bore me. I like passion which comes with peaks and troughs.

Mind you Ivan never won Wimbledon (the years I spent howling in frustration).

Best ever Wimbledon final? Goran's astonishing victory. That's my kind of tennis (and don't you love men prepared to show their delight at winning, like Goran did?).

Lendl's influence is right across the board including attitude (I'm sure Murray crying after losing came from Ivan persuading him to show his feelings - in his game as much as his life).

Pity, if preDICKtable that our gutless bent-Brit meeja (yeah rightly gushed over awesome Andy, 1 down 10 to go before 'Great') but almost all electro & print bent-Brit hacks CENSORED any mention of Ivan The Great. WTF ?
