Best Possible Taste - Kenny Everett... 12 Years, 9 Months ago
I watched this on BBC4 and was very, very disappointed.

I knew Kenny extremely well - he was a lovely human being with the unfortunate characteristic of needing to alienate everybody who loved him. Also massively talented.

And not in the slightest bit camp.

The actor playing him, whilst getting most of the characters and much of the mannerisms spot on, then added a soupcon of camp which ruined the entire interpretation.

It was also a fatuously silly script.

Kenny deserved - and deserves - much, much better.

I rather enjoyed it but then again I didn't of course know him. He's someone who I have admired since I was a kid.
I liked the gem they showed afterwards with Kenny talking to the kids about Top of the Pops. Great stuff.

I rather enjoyed it too - the guy playing John, Lee's second husband, I went to school with!

As for alienating people, I can certainly appreciate that. I probably do it too, to be honest.

Kenny was always a hero to me and his sexuality was never ever something that I thought about with him. Kenny was Kenny, totally and utterly unique and an amazing talent. He went from radio to TV and even cinema (The Bloodbath at the House of Death film isn't brilliant, but it's not as bad as people say) totally effortlessly (but obviously there was effort there!).

Kenny was probably the first (only?) TV and radio star that I ever loved, even though I never met him, and talking as someone who considers himself 99.99999999% straight, I think that's something to admit to! I was quite upset when he died.
