Unemployed school leavers get no benefits.The only money they get is if they are on a course...problem is that in many areas they have insufficient courses,so they are reliant on parents.Of course the same said parents stop getting child benefit at this time,and the council will also reduce there housing benefit if applicable,because technically they are not responsible for the very child at that age!

To me this was one of Blair and New Labour's most idiotic policies along with Thatcher's mad idea to sell of housing at discount prices.
Instead of continuing investment in social housing they implemented this. Unlike all the rest of Europe Britain now has the smallest proportion of public housing (an investment and asset for a government).

I predict this will be a policy that in the long run will be quietly dropped. Or you will see a disastrous property price plunge.

you are making huge generalisations. Property prices are directly affected by supply and demand and when people have the ability to pay rents via subsidies, and that is millions of people, prices rise quite apart from your other sweeping generalisation that those at the lower end of the social scale 'get something for free' whilst all governments subsidise big and small business and always have.

The Tories have not implemented this yet and I still predict it will be a policy quietly dropped or drastically scaled back. Otherwise all those Tory voters who own investment properties will no longer be thinking Cameron is 'head and shoulders' above anyone.

you are partly right my dear. I do live in a dream world and always have but my world is one where everyone has a lovely home to live in and can drink as much French champagne as they like.

I do my little part in achieving this by being a good example.
