Very odd first show; not at all funny. Balding not good (and I really like her); stiff, uncomfortable, bad lines. The Savile situation doesn't provide much humour - if true, too ghastly for jokes; if false - even worse, but both serious. And they had to go on about how the stupid media fake HIGNFY stories about Savile were invented (raising the possibility that many claims were also media inspired).
It felt very stiff (ooh Matron)... the entire show was just not very funny at all.
I agree, it felt very awkward. I find it difficult to believe there are not at least SOME aspects of the story that lend themselves to satire. Obviously you can't joke about alleged abuse, but there is comic potential in the media coverage etc. Felt as if they were heavily censoring themselves, which is not what HIGNFY is meant to be about. It's at times like this you appreciate people like Frankie Boyle!

There needs to be violent uprising in this country - but there won't be, cos X Factor is on twice a week and people don't wanna miss it
I think there will be. Last years riots, the current Tory destruction of the NHS and the benefits system.
Unfortunately Labour will do nothing about either as they are simply not any different.
And people wonder why George Galloway gets in at Bradford and the BNP gets a foothold in places (another right wing party, the English Democrats have a mayor in Doncaster). Are people so fed up with mainstream politics that the extremes start to get in, because people think - rightly or wrongly - that they are the answer to their woes and are the only people listening to them?
I remember being patronised by a local MP electioneering by my home once. I told her that I wouldn't vote for her now because of her attitude and walked away. If I remember I just spoilt the ballot by putting an X through each box and writing davidicke.com on the slip!

.. which would achieve precisely what?
The loonies in charge of the asylum !
99% of those who would riot would not get there unless someone offered them transport (and it was dole week so they had some money).
And as these people cannot even organise their own lives, how the hell do you think they could cope with the economics of the country (and Labour's DEBT ?)

No, its because the majority are too idle to vote ... and the ones who do are THICK !
(Good thing they only have to put an "X" - if they had to spell their name it would be too difficult !)

Do you remember the Chad affair in the US in 2000? I was in the States for that election and my American friend turned round and apologised to us for his nation being so bloody stupid. I said more or less the same to him regarding X marking the spot over here....
We have Alan Hardwick, the ex presenter/reporter of Yorkshire TV's Calendar standing in Lincolnshire. A bit like Alan Partridge standing in Norfolk.
Is he independent - or a party nominee?
According to Sky News, rank and file police are "really worried" about the appointment of PCCs (they dont want someone scrutinising what they do !)
The report also says - "Mr Anthony said his former colleagues had "just seen their pay and conditions changed, their pension arrangements change; some of them are now going to have to work for an additional five years".
What??? Till their late 40's?? shocking ! Time they joined the real world.
A worry is the potential low turnout (from those who moan about things but cannot be bothered to actually vote). This could "let in" extremeist candidates by default.
