It's not bad but much of the content of this piece doesn't affect most people and the piece completely misses the main point and that is ... if you, as a member of the public want to bring the attention of the public to something The State would rather keep quiet, you will be silenced either by D notices, being discredited or the State in concert with the police and media (who may later, a la Kelvin Mckenzie claim they were "misled" by the police) creating a whole new false "truth" .... I'm less bothered with free speech and more bothered about the media and what people get to hear.

The media has fed us false stories designed to make us Eurosceptics, Islamaphobes on top of all the (admittedly brilliant) work that made us think a shock and awe attack on Iraq was probablt what the Itaqi people would want us to do bearing in mind Saddam's (non-existent) connection to 911 ...

Our heads have been filled with so much rubbish I have no idea what is actually "true" anymore or what "the truth" is.

A long piece on free speech isn't really going to fix much as long as state broadcasters decide what we hear and read. I reckon there's at least as much chance of finding the truth on kingofhits as there is on bbc.co.uk
