"Although she initially insisted that it was genuine, last night she conceded that she may have been the victim of a hoax."

I'm trying to get my head around this. Who would perpetrate a hoax like this on her?

This is getting bizarre!!

... meanwhile, we don't know where our electricity will come from in a few years, dairy and pig farmers are leaving the industry in droves so out food security gets worse all the time and there is nothing in the media about where economic growth might come from ....

first chink in the armour of the forces attacking the BBC but will be largely forgotten when dills like Vine say Savile will be remembered as the 'most evil pedo in history'. Idiot.

there is real Witch Hunt stuff going on and anyone who dares defend JS or question the claimants risk being labelled a 'pedo' as well.

Quite apart from if the majority of tales were true, JS wasn't attracted to pre-pubescent children so couldn't have been a pedofile (or however you spell the damned thing)

Mind you now we have the classic..scouts getting their pants pulled down.

Good letter from someone I found on the BBC News website...

Not a single complaint received whilst he was alive, no witnesses came forward at the time, many alleged victims from questionable backgrounds, some putting themselves back into the same position to be abused again. BBC/NHS will pay-off millions on declarations of abuse. Parliament will restrict civil liberties further as has occurred with the CRB system holding false allegations against people.

daily mail reader:

Paul Merton, with a nod and a wink, stated ' he once had a meeting with Mrs Thatcher at no. 10 you know' on 'HIGNFY' last night. The level of totally unfounded/unproved accusations and insinuations that are taking place shows just what an horrendous society Britain now is. Rememebr the name Colin Stagg. He was the guy millions would have hung from the nearest lampost, given the chance, when everyone said 'he killed Rachael Nickell, you know'. Years later, DNA testing proved he hadn't. Shocking the way vigilantism has now taken hold.

I've had several calls from Very Important People commenting on this story - and of the amazing quantity of media people choosing to ignore it.

I've tipped them off to try to find the names of the false rape accusers against Mick Hucknall and Paul Weller and to check whether they've made complaints against Savile...

"The buried story" - nobody else picks up on this yet it's hugely significant.

I suspect this letter will feature hugely in tonight's Panorama investigation - if not, why not?

Or are the team simply unable to understand the significance?

It implies very strongly that all is not honourable in this situation and gives huge probity to the decision to drop the programme.

With a forgery like this existing, how much of the rest was invented to create an ITV show?

I generally try to only respond to music related posts on here but.
For the sake of our liberties and lives, something needs to be done now to stop
the rise in vigilantism whether from the tabloids or otherwise.

A few weeks ago 4 university students were beaten and lynched to death in Nigeria
all on the basis of someone crying "thief". Now the spineless Cameron is going to
sanction "batter a burglar" mob rule and the easiest way to shut someone up is cry
"paedo" Britain is now turning into the worst free country in the world. Putin would
be pleased. Unfounded allegations, no matter how sincere, need to be tried in
a court of law and NOT IN THE FUCKING TABLOIDS.

Indeed; there is a serious social concern about protection of life these days.

Utterly extraordinary nobody else has picked up on this story; neither Panorama nor the MPs quizzing Entwistle.

Let us see this forgery and find out who forged it and why?

Re:Much though the Mail HATES the BBC.... 12 Years, 9 Months ago
but this is how you listen to "The State" .... the BBC ... look at the obvious stuff they ignore and the fluff they fill the airwaves with.

This is MI5's job. The fact they ran boys' homes as gay brothels to turn or compromise unco-operative civil servants or wayward members of the security services is old news outside of the mainstream media.

Of course the police are going to incompetently investigate selective cases.

The wheels are off the wagon ....

is GambacIni senile??

why would he make such bizarre claims?

he says 'everyone knew ' including himself.

so he's saying the BBC 'covered up' but so did he.

he's saying he knew Jimmy Savile abused retarded kids but didn't report it, didn't go to his bosses. didn't go the police, nor to Esther Rantzen etc etc.

If he knew abuse went on and said nothing, he is as guilty as many others.

doesn't this dill have a manager, a PR ??

Is it just me or are some people destroying their careers?

am I in a parallel universe where people who should know better are making total idiots of themselves?

It is very very odd that anyone in the media can say, with a straight face, "tabloids dropped a story because charities might suffer". It quite simply would have been unheard of.

If Hacks had a story that Jimmy was breaking the law they would have thoroughly researched it. More than that, knowing the corrupt behaviour of the media (and some police) they would have paid for or persuaded "victims" to lie, inflate, colour the facts to bend the truth and get A GOOD STORY (the only thing that has ever mattered).

Journalists were and still are quite good at hacking phones and stuff.

I must tell you - I predicted this twelve years ago when I found, to my cost, how the exploding false allegations industry could succeed.

Many friends have called me to say "you went through this a decade ago. Massive publicity. Why didn't these "victims" speak out about Savile then?".

Certainly Surrey Police wanted to"get" stars (they tried and failed with Mick Hucknall and Paul Weller).

But lies are not always easy to stand up.

I totally agree and I think anyone saying that Savile could blackmail a tabloid into silence has either gone mad, lying to himself or thinks people will believe this B/S.

Any such "blackmail" (total hogwash) tried on a tabloid in the atmosphere of the 80s through 2000s would be like a red rag to a bull.

I know of a Royal who Murdoch heard was a reputed pedo in the 1980s and Rupert Murdoch personally ordered editors and hacks to go for him like crazy.

It came to nothing because Murdoch was convinced after 18 months it was a rumour spread by enemies.

Anyone who claims British tabloids would not have gone after a bloody silly suited television celebrity is lying to themselves.

I can't get my head round this point (i'd like to make).

If they think JS was such an oversexed beast (as they are now putting about). Then why didn't they set him up, with a female stooge, complete with hidden cameras etc? An easy thing to do. But they never had the guts to do it, it seems.

As so many of these so called "victims" seem to have been suffering from non compessmentas minds, wouldn't it just be easy to pay them to expand on the truth, as it would be to keep quiet?

Re:Much though the Mail HATES the BBC.... 12 Years, 9 Months ago
bh you are spot on and any claims to the opposite are the biggest load of codswallop.

I see the odious Max Clifford is still claiming that he had people coming to him with claims while Savile was alive yet quite apart from the sickening aspect that they wanted to flog their story, he is totally wrong claiming he advised them they must go to the police.

He could have easily and should have arranged for police to visit him to interview the claimants and I know a parole officer who was sacked and told they were lucky they weren't charged themselves for exactly the same reason : and that's after being told by a convicted criminal they were abused.

What the media and all these idiots like Gambaccini are forgetting is what happened during previous witch-hunts (Salem, McCarthyism etc ) those making claims often ended up being burnt at the stake as well. It's already happened to Esther..she'll never be taken seriously again.

It will be interesting to watch where all this goes.......

bh you are asking the right questions but the reason there is no answer is because the claim that Jimmy Savile was an all powerful untouchable figure is blatantly absurd.

I perceive the wind is beginning to drop over this 'good story' and there may be a week/ 10 days left in it.
