Beautiful day - and a question for all ages of posters... 12 Years, 9 Months ago
What a gorgeous day in London; as I strolled today, I marvelled at the fantastic day.

I normally don't like the autumn - months of cold misery ahead - but today the sunlight was just perfect and the sky, trees, people looked wonderful.

I mentioned this to two friends - one a lady in her 70s and the other in his 80s - and both had also noticed. Is this an older person thing or have younger people seen it too? Pumpkinhead - over to you...

Well, we've had all kinds of sky today in Merseyside, from darkly overcast to mostly blue with interesting cloud formations. I think you need to go for a walk to really appreciate what's up there though. It's not the same through a car windscreen, especially in a town or city. So yes, I do notice these things.

Grant, aged 47 and two-thirds (had to think about that then!)

It's my 49th birthday on Thursday and I have certainly noticed the day having driven down here to Gravesend from Nottingham. Lovely clear views over the Thames estuary and the Shard in the distance from the Dartford Bridge. Very windy though.

38 - funny I was just thinking how beautiful it's been today, and breezy.

I love the month of October. Unfortunately I'll never be able to stroll again like I always did, but I can wander around my small garden, my tiny insignificant part of the Universe and observe nature bedding itself down for the winter. As I write the sun is setting quite magnificently over Brooky Wood (my view from my window) the tree branches waving a slow goodbye to the wet summer, and just a scent of summers passed, in youth when the days were longer, and dressed or undressed we were all so beautiful, no tears to cloud our vision, no pain, no loss, no fear. Wisdom is wrought through many seasons of change, and no-one lives throughout a perfect summer.

I always think it's a beautiful day if I actually wake up.

Yes well noted JK and others.

And echoin' wide-awake Rockin Hedda, ole George Burns old intro,

" Hi, it's great to be here. At my age it's great to be anywhere !"

I think you may have been happy anyway today JK ...a lot of noticing things is allowing yourself the mental space to do it. You may notice less when you're deep in thought, stressed, distracted. Deciding "I am going to spend an hour achieving nothing and I'm just going to go out and be" can be therapeutic whatever the weather ... in the right company, strolling in the rain getting sodden in a warm breeze can be fantastic. As with many things, much is related to perspective and it doesn't sound as if there's anything wrong with yours.

Looking at a "Simpson" sky ... blue with white clouds, Norwegian autumn colours and Swans on the still fjord.

October is normally a dodgy time for me as it's usually the time my son gets ill (returning to school, infections etc) and yes he is ill this month, but not as bad as he was last year.

Autumn is my favourite season. It has the best colours, sounds and smells. For me it has Halloween, Guy Fawkes, Remembrance Weekend including the Lord Mayor's show .. and usually the first real frosty nights. It also gets me in the right mood for Christmas.

After the rain during last night, and the subtle warmth of this morning with it's various shades and senses .. I'd say that today has been a beautiful day.
