The comment's right..And at the risk of being a nerd it's definitely a series 2 corniche with rubber bumpers, that wasn't launched until 1977...Making the poor little innocent how old?.....

Yep definately 1977. I believe they were launched in August. So, this could even be 1978.

34/35 years ago. How old's the boy in the photo? 10/11? Either way that adds up. Although it's a boy. Which makes me think.

Then I read further "A case for compensation from the Savile Estate".

Then I think it stinks.

a poster on Anna Raccoon has pointed out that as you correctly say, that it's a Corniche and the 'lad's' tale of how he was being abused by Savile in the back seat and that he grabbed the door handle and jumped out was a bit difficult in a car with no back doors.

LOL quote of the week from ambulance chasing solicitor:

" ‘This is a typical child abuse case. The victim has for many years been able to suppress what happened to him.
‘Now with all the attention surrounding Mr Savile the memories have come back.’

should have added..electricity bill came in as well and needs a nice holiday in Benidorm.

Thanks Silkcut,

Researching your claim as a Rolls novice I find this Corniche from 1973 has rubber bumpers: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:%2773_Rolls-R...ertible_(Hudson).JPG

What have I missed?

Best Wishes,
Jim

Is this the car?

www.british-car-auctions.co.uk/Classic-C...-Corniche-convertib/

On this page it says a blue corniche was supplied to JS in 1977.

People on here keep saying this sort of thing - it won't happen, it won't make a difference, it won't change things, boo-hoo. Well, you have access to the internet, you can communicate, you can find emails, you can probe, you can pester, you can publicise. (And some of you claim to have great contacts.) So DO something instead of just hugging each other and whining in this village phone box of a forum! GROW SOME!

which barricades should we storm ?

all these inconsistencies will matter when things go to court and some of the so-called 'evidence' will get matters thrown out on the first day.

I note the 'lad's' solicitor is saying he will sue Savile's estate as I'm sure others will attempt to which will be vigorously contested by his executors as is their duty but sadly it will eat up Savile's estate in legal fees.

Then they will try a second bite of the cherry with victim's compensation and may be successful as a conviction isn't always needed.

My view : we may be at a watershed moment and the media is making a giant collective fool of itself and this is indicated that serious writers are just beginning to question the whole case.
That could become a flood or 'Fleet Street' could do what it does best..retreat and attack a new target.

Nerd alert! US Market Roller, I think they had rubber bumpers fitted earlier than UK ones for federal crash regs..A lot of early '70's British cars did, TR6's were the same and US ones are uglier than UK ones because of it...

That one at BCA looks like the car...Well researched! I bet that's bloody cheap now I quite fancy it, I wonder if they'd do a swap for my '89 Micra?....

Someone else with buyers remorse!

what a hoot ! and scrap metal merchant !! nice car though.

re the Corniche 2 door coupe in question...the 'victim' in other reports describes his battle with a fiddling Savile in the back seat and how he grabbed the door handle..got out back door and fled!

mind you his brief did say he was sending him to a shrink.

They've already rolled over !!!!

You're correct the US Market did have rubber bumpers as part of crash regulations but only in 1975/76. Also the car in the savile picture appears to be RHD so is not a US Market model. Also a few owners of RRs update their cars to the latest trim so you might find an older model with new frontal styling or newer model headlights.

I'm referring to the others it is claimed were being arrested 'within days'. But suing his estate or the Beeb isn't going to be cut and dried so alleged victims thinking they are going to get a quick payout like government compensation will find themselves waiting years..long long time and they will have to prove they are legit. Executor has no choice.

no they haven't rolled over they have frozen the account.
Those who are meant to receive legacies cannot be just written off.
There are real legal complications here and as Savile is dead as you point out his estate could have been deemed to already belong to those it was left to ie- it's not Savile's.

They alleged victims have all come out after Savile is dead..should have made their moves before he died.

But it will all end in litigation and the lawyers will hoover up the lot.

Then again if Raccoon proves to be legit and some sort of conspiracy is uncovered...phoney victims could be in real trouble. Heaven help those not living in council flats who own property.

Believe me..suing Savile's estate is one huuuuge mistake for those hoping for a quick quid.

Blimey Foz, I thought I was a nerd!...I was referring to the wiki link Jim posted that he thought was a '73 Shadow with rubber bumpers....That one was a US car. Jimbo's is definitely a UK RHD series 2 in the picture from the compo story. And you're right that people did upgrade them...But I can guarantee that they didn't upgrade to 1977 bumpers IN 1972!! Unless they had a crystal ball

Exactly. I think this is it...at long last. Mind you, I've thought that before more than once.

Best, Jim
