Hopefully DLT has the required gumption to fight the accusations and the related media frenzy. I believe JK may have some strong allies very soon in what must have previously seemed like a lone battle. Maybe, just maybe, some good may come out of all of this.
Coincidentally - or not as the case may be - the same day as BBC4 were due to repeat one of his TOTP's (20-10-77). This is so contrived and transparent it beggars belief.
I think I've worked it out. The BBC has to pay royalties it can ill afford when it repeats TOTP and the Savile case gives them a pretext to stop broadcasting the shows thus saving money.
There may be a joke lurking in this post somewhere.

Steve,
I cant see how anyone can get a fair hearing (or trial) in the current hysteria.
Hopefully the Judges will see that too ... and remember our Judges are (largely) independent and not afraid to stand-up for justice (like the Judge this week who released Quatada despite the media frenzy).

Can't see our over populated Prisons, being filled up with ex-celebrities though. Cor, you've never seen the like!
DLT's are mainly gropes aren't they. Hardly thumb screw stuff.
It's almost like, it's a case of attack on 70s & 80s Britain. Attack on Culture & the Past.
How about trying to sue ITV, for showing a White & Black war in "Love They Neighbour", over a 4 year period of 1972 to 76? Kind of almost relates to the same idiotic thing, as taken DLT. It was excepted then. No one really bothered. But today's laws, say it's a major crime. Same as the fella, that used to go around the work place & pinch all the ladies bums. Wonder where he's hiding today?

fortunately most judges do not follow orders from the media although some are cowards.
In cases like like this lawyers use every trick to delay trials so the reporting is a distant memory.
maybe older posters can tell me .... was a grope in the 60s/70s different to today?
Surely a grope is hardly worth making a fuss off, especially after a few decades. Any magistrate or judge should kick these charges straight into the bin where they belong. What a total waste of police time.
Changing times, false memory and media exaggeration are all partially responsible.
When literally hundreds genuinely believe a soap opera character is really in prison and write for her/his release, you can see how vulnerable ordinary people are.
Young people fumble and stumble around personal relationships, often not getting it quite right, trying, assuming, misunderstanding. To criminalise them and prosecute them years later should itself be a crime.
"Mr Lettuce & Tomato, I am arresting you for allegedly touching the bottom of a woman, that went on to work for Murdoch, in 1977. It is also noted that, coincidentally, you are due to be on tonights BBC4 repeat of Top Of The Pops. You do not have to say anything but what you do say will be taken down, misquoted by The Sun & The Daily Heil and tweeted by Mark Williams-Tosspot, who happens to have another tawdry documentary on ITV next week."

I pinched a girls bum once when I was at university - Thank God I am not famous.
It's a difficult one to grade as groping is open to interpretation. Some groping could be considered harmless fun - images of Sid James goosing Joan Sims or a quick squeeze of Barbara Windsor's tits (with essential comedy horn noise) on Carry On films - not particularly nice, but can probably be laughed off by either party as long as it doesn't happen continuously. And it has been known for women to grope a man's trouser area! However an unwanted kiss or hand up skirt/blouse, and a constant failure to stop when asked could be quite a different matter especially if the perpetrator wants to go further?? Especially in a dark studio when DJ's may be working on their own.
But who knows what happened? Loads of celebrities are probably priming their lawyers at the moment because of a hand on knee incident in 1976, or a snatched snog by some fan after a show. I bet Sophie Wessex won't call the police because Chris Tarrant ripped her bra off in the back of a taxi 20 odd years ago.

That of course just increases the stress.
True ... but at least when the furore has died down people (jury !) may see things in a clearer perspective and not through the fog of "everyone is a paedo" !
"I've actually said, and if you look into the archives you might find that on my radio shows in the past when there's been a paedophile case, I've said: 'Well, hey, instead of putting them in jail and doing this, send them round to my place and I'll sort them out'. That's how strongly I feel."
The Met, it would seem, haven't learnt their lesson yet and are still colluding with churnalists from the gutter press - according to Mike Smith, there was a carpark full of the bastards awaiting the arrival of a several police vehicles as they "swooped" to arrest DLT for allegedly touching a grown woman's tits many years ago. They were swarming by 7am, and the arrest wasn't until 7.45am.
