TOPIC: Oh, no - its THAT day again
#90434

Oh, no - its THAT day again 12 Years, 8 Months ago
Time to switch-off the BBC for at least 24 hours.

They have been running this thing for well over 20 years - and every year they claim to have raised £30 million - there are NO children in need ... they are all millionaires (well they would be if they got all the cash and their mothers did not spend it on scratchcards).

More rubbish from ITK.

In the last 10 years alone, Children in Need has raised over £400m for children's charities - to which the funds go directly.

Largely brought about by media people being prepared to act the fool....

I can't stand Children in Need.
Bad TV; amateurs allowed to make fools of themselves, serious people showing they are good sports (god how I loathe "good sports").

very much depends on what you call a "childrens charity" doesn't it?

I've heard of some very spurious projects being funded.

the funds go directly to charities?...but not direct to children in need. Middle man/woman takes their cut.

Silly ideas these benefits. Look around you, plenty of people in need. Give direct i say.

It's all patronizing why was Wogan asking us to give a extra £2 million when he has it in his bank ?

Far too many to list !

Check this out - www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b008dk4b/featur...form-additional-info

Seems that you can apply for a salary, running costs (for whatever spurious "charity project" you are running, and (I stopped reading at this point) but probably holidays and sports cars as well !!!

I've been thinking .... you never hear of child poverty in Tahiti do you?
Perhaps I should fly over and launch a fact-finding mission?
Children In Need would fund that, wouldn't they?

I would need staff (but could take my family to save costs of recruitment etc), and a hotel (I dont mind slumming it - a 4* will be OK), plus driver and car.

If I could discover the secrets of why there is no child "poverty" in Tahiti - just look at the good I could do over here?

Where's the application form .........

Is that why you are unable to name any?

Yes - cant be bothered with all that nonsense ... the application process alone makes it quite clear money is wasted left, right and centre.(Still, if you want to waste YOUR money - I wont stand in your way).

I do remember seeing a family on local news .... CIN had sponsored a holiday for their "ill" child. You only had to look at the family to see why it was "ill" !!!

Far too many chips, and far too much inactivity !!!!!

First, the list is too long; now, you can't be bothered.

If you had any credibility here, I think you've lost it.

Just don't make statements that you are unable to back up.

HeHeHe ... how ridiculous !

I've shown you how spurious the claims process is ... why dont you waste your time and supply a list of "good" causes, and we'll check it out (if we can be bothered)

But was this a 'spurious project' ITK?

And does your medical qualification allow you to diagnose from your armchair?

We've been there before, Hedda-tas !

All depends on structure etc and when we checked before the benefits were nowhere near as good as you claimed !

(but I may be in Palmerston North next year - where one of my ancestors was actually Matron of the local hospital - so I'll check for myself)
