Is there no legal spike upon which Williams-Thomas' head might one day be impaled? That is something I would pay to see. A televised trial of the man would be gripping.

I have to say; Ms Raccoon writes quite like the late Richard Webster - researched, balanced, sensible. This destruction of Witchfinder-General's show is absolutely spot on.

I'd like to think Mark's motives are genuine; that he truly wants to find real abusers and bring them to justice. I'd even be so charitable as to accept that, sometimes, a bit of "assistance" is necessary to bring real criminals to justice.

But I suspect this is not the case. His motives may well be self interest. Making good TV (he doesn't). Profits (he certainly does). Getting a lot of publicity from attaching himself to high profile cases.

In which case he may yet find he will get the most publicity and best TV out of an examination into... Mark Williams-Thomas.

Anna is a superb and analytical writer and it's great to hear from an insider.

Very lazy television making. The opening line straight out of the Murdoch press.

One could say - Savile's dead. Does it matter? It's given the abused a voice (I really hate that excuse; an anonymous call to Childline is a stress free voice, isn't it?). It's furthered Mark Williams Thomas' career and made him and his family loadsacash. And numerous women may now get lots of compensation.

But apart from the police hours and budget wasted, with the BBC damaged (not much actually; despite it being a good media story), other people hurt, it kills innocent children and patients (no longer getting charity monies) and spreads that nasty, bilious, spiteful, vicious acid that exists in mankind and shouldn't be encouraged.

What is most worrying is the shift in our society away from where people would go to the police, the police would investigate, that investigation might lead to a trial upon which the media would report.

It seems the media has replaced that entire system and the public readily consume stories so biased and flawed they would never survive in a court of law if delivered on behalf of the prosecution.

I suppose we still have to come the pleasure of hearing the outcome of all the various enquiries at the BBC and NHS and, if we are right, they will conclude there is no evidence Savile abused anyone. What happens after that (apart from a huge surge in conspiracy theories about "cover ups" and "white washes" to protect "elite abusers") will be interesting to observe.

Anna Racoon's site is now firmly established on my round of sites I drop into regularly. I'm surprised an independent TV production company hasn't taken the Webster and Raccoon material and made an expose programme about MWT, Newsnight etc. and the horrendous standards of journalism and fact checking. Channel 4 would probably show it but if not, there are platforms that broadcast into the UK by satellite via the Astra platform who would air it.
