Indeed, we did ... men sat down with a map, a pencil and a ruler and drew straight lines, ignorring all ethnic and local customs and traditions etc.

We did the same with Iraq, which is why we now have Kurds in Iraq and their fellow tribesmen on the Turkish side of the border too !

Rivers, mountain ranges, seas etc make great natural (and sensible) borders. Straight lines on a map do not.

Err, did we not also decide that six counties (attached to Eire) and actually across the sea from the rest of the UK were "part" of Britain too?

Lines - hurredly drawn - can and do have consequences for decades.

The EU are largely symbolic out there,The Yanks caused all the problems by bankrolling the country,due firstly to cold war logistics,then rich Jewish lobbyists,who are far more powerful than their electoral support deserves.
