Plans to map everyone's DNA in a plan said to aid cancer treatment seems a good idea initially.

But ... how long before others (police etc) want access to the database in a "creep ... creep police state by the back door" policy?

I think any database like that the government, Police, even bloody DSS would want access to.

and therein the problem, Steve

The government has already lost the data on HALF the UK population, and the police can never be trusted not to abuse the info.

BUT the campaigners will tell you the population is in favour of a DNA database - thats because they have been asked a "loaded" question - "Do you think we should have a DNA database if it will help fight cancer?" - and dont have the brains to work out the implications for themselves.
