This seems to be unravelling by the minute -

"A police officer's claim that he witnessed a row outside Downing Street involving ex-chief whip Andrew Mitchell is being probed by the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC).

It said it was "considering the validity of the officer's claim", which he apparently made to his local MP.

The police constable was arrested on suspicion of misconduct in a public office on Saturday

a policeman telling lies to big themselves up? Surely not !!!!

Plebgate - policeman posed as member of public? 12 Years, 7 Months ago
PLEBGATE - A Number 10 (SPOKESMAN?) has said the claims, which emerged after a member of the diplomatic protection squad was arrested, are "exceptionally serious".

A spokesman said: "Any allegations that a serving police officer posed as a member of the public and fabricated evidence against a Cabinet Minister are exceptionally serious.

"It is therefore essential that the police get to the bottom of this as a matter of urgency."

news.sky.com/story/1027265/plebgate-offi...e-up-mitchell-claims

Not satisifed with "fitting-up" people over the years the police now (apparently) like to manufacture evidence if non exists.

Anyone else remember the furore cause by the Police Federation when someone challenged the honestly of the policeman that they were defending?

This will be very interesting .....

Oh it's such a delight when the boys in blue are shown to be dodgy. How long before someone, somewhere examines how and why the police officer put in charge of the Milly Dowler case failed to find her killer for years, during which other innocent young girls were murdered?

As with a certain powerful PR person, Karma is a bitch.

This is getting absolutely fascinating and shows very clearly the extraordinary behaviour of some police officers - I've watched it myself 12 years ago.

And Lord Leveson felt the relationship between POLICE and Media was not worth detailed examination.

I had a hunch as soon as this story started to break that there was more to this than meets the eye. Much like Watergate was just a routine break-in when first reported.

Starting to sound very conspiratorial.
Vengence for the 20% cuts? (after all, the police are above that sort of thing aren't they? They are not ordinary mortals and should not suffer in the same way?)

The phrase "stitch-up" is starting to be used.

news.sky.com/story/1027265/plebgate-call...iry-after-new-claims

It will be very interesting to see the Police Federation's involvement in all this ... they were very active at the time (in pushing the police "version") but now seem to be distancing themselves from the whole thing -

"John Tully, chairman of the Metropolitan Police Federation, which represents officers in the force, said: "The Metropolitan Police Federation unequivocally and categorically refutes any allegation that it was part of a conspiracy to unseat a cabinet minister."

Sky now openly talking about "police conspiracy"

news.sky.com/story/1027265/plebgate-prob...at-police-conspiracy

I notice that Labour - who were very active in jumping on this bandwagon when it first rolled - have remained silent !!!!!

Meanwhile, the Police Federation of England and Wales, which represents rank and file officers, is to set up an independent review of its structure because of "issues around the way it is able to lead and coordinate".

It has been criticised for pursuing a political agenda in its criticism of Mr Mitchell.

BBC political correspondent Robin Brant said it appeared the federation was conceding involvement of some of its officers in what looked like an "anti-Mitchell" campaign had damaged its reputation and trust.

still no back-track from the loonies
(Silliband called Mitchell "toast" !!!!)

ITK referred to police having, "damaged their reputation and trust".

For millions of young and old streetwise and gay Brits, that ongoing damage occurred at least 65 years ago.

With bent-Greater Manchester homophobe cops, bent-Ulster anti catholic cops, bent-West Midlands Serious Crime Squad, bent-Met Flying Squad, and bent Met Vice Squad - leading to 'The Fall of Scotland Yard' for starters.

Thousands of stitched-up Irish, Gays, Blacks, Asians, a Brazilian, a Pop Mogul, and a top politician later - it's all changed.

Now it's even worse!

Bertrand Russel once said : there are 2 types of people..those who feel safe when they see a policemen and those who feel threatened (or words to the affect).

we know what he meant.

I heard something on the radio the other day .... Cameron is the first politician in 30 years who has dared to try and reform (reign in?) the police.

Ever since Thatcher's first act on becoming PM was to reqard the police with a massive pay rise (as she knew they would be needed later) all politician have shyied away from them and let them get away with virtually anything.

We scrapped the last ineffective watchdog for the Independent Police Complaints Commission - which is anything but independent. Its stuffed with ex-fuzz who reward their ex-bosses by "doing them a favour".

In the last couple of years, after pressure from above, police are starting to become accountable - but there is a very long way to go. Let's hope the new police commissioners do their job well. The "independence" of Chief Constables has seen a raft of wrong-doing across the country where locally elected politicians have had to virtually force the CC out. They have in many cases behaved like local warlords.

We have seen (over the Mitchell affair) a branch of the Police Federation (West Mids) actively campaign against an elected politician. The Hillsborough affair brings the greatest shame that the force has ever had.

Its time that the police realised they are public servants - not masters.

"concerned about the welfare of the officers involved" ???!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 12 Years, 6 Months ago
The Metropolitan Police commissioner has temporarily returned from his Christmas holiday to deal with concerns raised by the "plebgate" affair.

Scotland Yard said Bernard Hogan-Howe had concerns over the welfare of the officers involved in the row.

www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-20829901

If ever there was a statement which showed just how out-of-touch these people are - then that is it !!!

No "concern" for the victim.
No "concern" for the generral public.

Just "concern" for his officers (who have been caught bang-to-rights !!!!)
