Nobody notices or dares say - an innocent man.

Innocent until or unless proven guilty?

Whether alive or dead?

An allegation these days is as good as a conviction. Why? Because we're ruled by the media and the media is ruled by the question "Is it a good story?".

Should an innocent person be investigated if accused? Yes. Should that investigation go on after a decision of innocence? No. Should someone be fired or blamed if they decide to drop an investigation after they become convinced of innocence? No. Is failing to pursue an innocent person wrong? No. Should everything depend on whether the ultimate conclusion is satisfactory to the media rule? No.

The bias of the Murdoch/Mail press is ridiculous. Did you see the Times man questioning Patten yesterday? Patten said the BBC would be making available all the transcripts of interviews. So the Times man asked if the Beeb would be releasing the interview transcripts. Patten, understandably, said that's what he'd just said. So the Times claimed it wasn't. So Patten repeated the promise, and then asked the Times man if he'd been clear enough. 'I think so...' he muttered reluctantly. Farcical. They were all so peed off the report hadn't condemned the BBC.

Unfortunately though, the Media hypnotises gullible members of the public.

When you look around, there appear to be many people, who will just believe anything they are told. Then, there are those con merchants, that like easy money.

Intelligent people are full of doubts, while thoughtless thickos are full of confidence. I mean you never see a nutcase or a conman worrying about having confidence problems. They don't have a thought not to be confident...Could apply to many certain "Newspaper" readers, & those that listen to Mr Williams-Thomas!

Very good Chris; like you, I'm amazed the general media hasn't picked up on these anomalies - if only because it's a 'great story".

I've been having an ongoing net battle with a well known journalist who accepts the Savile allegations as 'proved'. His latest insult to me was to 'not leave your brains at the door'.

My main complaint to him..ignored in the most ignorant fashion..is that charges are arising and may against others and because Savile is dead, it isn't an excuse to accept allegations as proof. Even Waxie Maxie deserves to be considered innocent (yes..even he!)

as usual everyone..and most of the media..are frightened to point out the emperor has no clothes on.

The one certain proven thing is... the media is overwhelmingly believed, despite the News Int/Leveson findings proving the opposite.

And I would say this is for one reason; we (none of us) have the time or inclination for deep consideration and examining of evidence. We want simple, slogan solutions (which don't exist and thus never work).

Guilty or innocent is never true. Everyone is slightly guilty and slightly innocent. Shades of gray - far too complex for modern society.

Rubbish. If I went to your door, you opened it and I beat you senseless with a baseball bat for no reason except I hated that coloured wig you used to wear, I'd be guilty, plain and simple. Obviously there are many more instances when the issues are very ambiguous, but don't act like a tabloid hack and try to come up with a black and white argument for shades of grey. Don't simplify relativism, there's a dear.

Consider it a great Christmas present, Chris. Not speaking to obsessed idiots, is the best Christmas present, you can have.
