Fatties to have benefits cut 12 Years, 6 Months ago
Hedda-tas wont like this !

===

Obese people could face cuts to their benefits if they do not attend exercise sessions, under new plans being outlined by a local council.

Westminster City council has published a report looking at how councils can link benefit payments to claimants' lifestyles.

Presumably, before they roll this out, they'll be asking Eric Whoateallthepies Pickles to pay a higher rate of tax if he doesn't go to the gym

Fatheads like ITK won't like this.

There are plans for petty little biased snobs to have their 'benefit of the doubt' dismissed out of hand.

I take that would only apply if the reason they were on benefits was because they were fat...? lol

You punish poor people who are obese, therefore you should punish everyone else who is obese too.

People can be as obese as they like - as long as I am NOT paying for the lazy lifestyle !!!!

If you want a deccent job. The Jobcentre is a good place...to steer clear of! Personally I'd loved to work in a Jobcentre, as a human being, unlike some of the braindead tossers that do work in them.

I don't know ... Ask Westminster Council

BUT you and I both know that the vast majority are NOT suffering any glandular problem .... They are suffering a burger problem !

Ok...this is an interesting topic. Obesity in the very poor and out of work is an issue. First because fast food is cheap and that's all a lot of people can afford to eat. Food in Britain is obscenely expensive. Especially food of decent quality. Now to the other part. Assuming that most people do not go door to door looking for work with a cv in their hand (you can only get a minimum wage job that way) a lot of time IS spent sitting on your ass making phone calls and going through the internet looking for a decent job.
I've just lost my benefits in the States and that is where you are going to be finding me...on the computer...
Here in the states I'd say most of the lower class/lower middle class are overweight. It is down to food choices, self-esteem and filling your tummy when self-esteem isn't enough to get you out of bed in the morning. Should people be forced to attend exercise classes to receive their benefits? Are they gonna pay for it? Are they gonna make sure people are well enough to attend? Are they going to bring out nutritionists to help?

Interesting reply, Tipsheet, but I feel you are falling for the "we are all victims" whines and moans.

Sitting on their butts searching for jobs???!!!
Sitting on their butts watching Jeremy Kyle more like !!!!

WHEN will these people stand up for themselves and actually do something positive about THEIR situation? We already have one poster regularly saying "the JobCentre wont find me a job". When will HE find a job?

Why do we have to pay to get people healthy and fit? Why cant they do this themselves? They need motiviation ... what better motivation than being told that IF they dont do something their dole will be cut off ?

They will be queuing outside the health centres !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re:Fatties to have benefits cut 12 Years, 6 Months ago
During a previous Conservative administration, plans were drawn up to require food manufacturers to label the quantity of salt contained in their products. Salt contributes to the risk of stroke and heart disease, major causes of public spending on health.

The plans were shelves under pressure from leading manufactures who were major donors to the conservative party.

Private interest trumped public interest to the detriment of the public health and without regard for the principle of informed choice upon which free markets depend and which conservative ideology claims to embrace.

Individuals are of course free to choose what to eat and must live with the consequences. But the public should also to be free to legislate on its own behalf without being usurped by private corporations.
